There was a video a few years ago where James May (legendary Top Gear presenter) discussed what he saw in McQueen. If I remember correctly, he talked about a C6 Vette, a GT, and a 911

I always thought McQueen was a Dodge Viper because his overall looks resemble it. Turns out he was a hybrid of at least 5 different cars smashed into a NASCAR design.

In my eyes, Lightning McQueen looks like a hybrid between a Dodge Viper, a 2006 Dodge Charger, a corvette, a Ford GT and a 911 carrera.

nice. alot of people had asked on other videos(not on this channel). what engine he was powered by. depending on the variant that mcqueen is. he will have any of these engines listed below(im an automotive nerd so give me a break. plus motortrend is great)
if he was racing pure stock car. he would have this
Chevy small block RO7 fuel injected or carb'd(in 2007 the first variant was carbed)

for road racing he would have(as in cars 2)
427 LS7 from the C6R corvette(naturally aspirated)

now in other stuff like cars race o rama. he is powered by variated LS power plants.
supercharged LS3(drag or super race mode)
5.3L LS truck engine(off road)
for the sports car mode. from what i know its a small block 400 FE.
go ahead and correct me if i mess up

C6 - Body Shape and slightly maybe the headlights
C1 - Radiator Springs Livery and White walls tires
Viper - Headlights and Side Exhaust (maybe the tail lights too)


He looks like more of a viper to me since it almost have the same body as C6.

When Lightning wonders why Sally stayed in Radiator Springs Sally said she "Fell in love", after Lightning wonders what or who she fell in love with he asked "Corvette?"

I've heard he's part Corvette part Ford and park stock car. But thanks for making this! It was getting to the point where I couldn't really know for sure! Now I'm sure!

Also the other day in history we were watching a documentary called America: This Is Us. And they had John Lasseter come on and he started talking about car production and he brought up the topic of Route 66 and his research without mentioning Cars the movie. I just think it's interesting out of all the films that he made he would pick cars to talk about in this documentary.

Edit: it's also very interesting that his roof is 911 Carrera. Because that's what Sally is. Now we know why they love each other so much!

Honestly always liked the Stock car Viper theory, he's got the side pipes, and modified curves for Nascar racing.

Another fact: McQueen's number, 95, is a reference to the year Pixar's first feature film, *Toy Story*, was released in 1995.

If you think stock cars don't look interesting look at some ones for short tracks from the 2000s, namely in the rear end onwards, the rear end is actually angled and not straight, the suspension is at different heights all to accommodate the shape of the oval track.
