Im an uber + Bolt driver and i can you that it is worth it if you put in the hours. i do evenings and weekends and mon, wed, thurs on average you can make £100-£150 depending on the jobs you get. on fridays/saturdsays i work a bit longer and average £250-£300 and when they have promotions you can make £350-£400 per night. Working 5 days you can make around £1000 - £1200. Evening shifts are between 6pm-1am and weekends 3pm - 6am. Long Hours but worth it. hope this helps.

That's assuming you buy an expensive car too begin with though. You can get cars that meet uber's criteria from £1k. Obviously reliability will be pot luck but that's still true with a £10k car but a cheaper one probably cheaper to fix or just chuck it in the bin

Thank you. That’s going to change a bit though if you got yourself a good car for personal use and paid it off already and now considering doing something extra with it like Uber driving. Costs are reduced significantly here. That’s what I’m going to do. I got a permanent part time job and because I’m a busy mum, I needed a car anyway, and going to drive around my stable job when it suits me. So many perks and relatively easy job. I like driving and been driving in London for long enough and I’m used to it now. And my car is electric, saved on congestion charge and fuel big time here as well.

Uber drivers usually realize its not worth it after they have to do taxes and realize they would have been better off working in mcdonalds. "buying a job" is an apt term for uber drivers as they don't have much prospects outside of mcdonalds but atleast you get to sit on your arse ubering.

How does tax work in this scenario? Using you example £12/hr and 60 hour/week the income is £37, 440. Is all of this taxed after the tax-free allowance? Or can you make claims for mileage somehow? Otherwise you're having to pay expenses with post-tax earnings.

Are there uber drivers out there that have been driving since before COVID? realistically what was the average pay per hour or/and the average income per day (12 hour shift) ?

Buy your car, it’s the only way, finance costs are much cheaper than renting etc, car and all running costs get off set against tax, plus 45p a mile back for the first 10k miles, 25p a mile thereafter, ignore this shit

I some what disagree with some of your figures..I am full time uber driver in Manchester (so rates are lower here on Uber then in London), I on a normal average week make about £17-£18 per hour (thats after Ubers 25% commission), I work 50 hours maxs on a normal average week.
In terms of expenses, I run a 4 years old Skoda diesel which ive brought outright, fuel on average weekly is about £110, Insurance weekly £70, service every 3 months costing about £80 each time, tyres change every 6 months or so costing aprox £120 for 4 tyres...thats my main cost then from that obvs minus the taxs paid every April. I know some guys who have points on their licences so for them to buy own car the insurance is too high like £5k plus per year so they track vehicle out which is about £140-150 per week for a Skoda, Toyota diesel etc including insurance, so say £70 more expense per week for them from mine.
The point is you will make decent money on Uber if you work smart, meaning come out on road at the right times not when its quite, for example no point coming out at 10am when it goes quite, get out early at 5am on weekdays. In London you should be making abit more because higher rates and also tend to get longer journeys.

A few things to remember. Firstly, no matter how much these calculations say you can earn, they don't mention the many other expenses that hit you. There are a multitude of fines, points on license with more fines, bumps, scrapes where you have to pay out of pocket for. These things do and will happen. It's time for a realistic comparison. My wife works 30 hours in a restaurant in town, she earns just £10.50 per hour, but keeps a share of the tips, she takes home £1, 600 per month - for 30 hours work! No expenses to pay. Now compare that with Uber and add in a few horrors that have happened to hundreds of Uber drivers every year. Accidents where the Uber driver was at fault. Some of these have landed Uber drivers with multiple years in jail. If you think "that would never happen to me, I'm a great driver", go ahead and grind out 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on the road, then think again. Of course it can happen to you given that amount of time. Oh, and you will! All Uber drivers end up having to do do those kinds of hours sometimes.

So, risk prison, driving bans and even death for what in reality amounts to less than an average minimum wage job, or just get a job in a cafe.

Can a non-muslim driver be specified? Laura Loomer was banned by Uber and Lyft for complaining she was late for a conference because she could't get one. That was after a mass killing by an Uber driver. Lot's of people must feel that way.
