hi friends!! i’ve been getting a lot of comments about this… so i just want to say that i’m in no way encouraging anyone to just quit their 9 to 5 in order to pursue their art dreams. passion and talent are important but can only go a long way so please please please do your research when it comes to starting a business, save money for financial security, build/grow your brand (creating social media content is what personally helped me get my art/voice heard), and just make sure that you’re prepared before taking any sort of leap in your career (especially one that’s uncertain and often requires multiple streams of income like i mention in the video). i just wanted to share my personal experience — having attended university majoring in something completely different and working multiple jobs for 7+ years paying off my tuition/rent while also attempting to grow my art business. everyone’s creative journey/timeline is different so go at your own pace 🫶 i just want to encourage people to keep going and that it’s never too late to follow your art dreams :’))) - elle

I'm gonna make my art my work / business and be self employed so this is very helpful. I'm autistic so being self employed is the only way I can live as an adult in the future.

I was screaming in my house about how I am a struggling artist, but suddenly your video was in my suggested. NICE VIDEO! lol

At first I thought the business/channel name was a pun on ‘seashell’ and it makes me think of ‘she sells sea shells on the sea shore’. If you added an ‘s’ to the end (sheselles) it would incorporate your name while also describing what you’re doing lol!

so, right now I am at the point where I am ready to launch my Shopify but I have an overwhelming feeling that no one will buy or like my stickers/art and that it isn't as good as everyone else that I see, you are so talented! I used to draw a lot in HS but I transitioned my art form to cake decorating. I had to change careers so I went into finance but now I want to go back to Art but the struggle is real lol and so are the insecurites

Thank you so much for the insight! I recently just quit my job in the service industry. I was in the service industry/food industry for five years, and it got to a point where I just couldnt do it anymore for the sake of my mental health. I knew I had to start doing more fulfilling work, even if that meant not getting paid as much and trying something new. Similarly, I was working on my art while working full time. I’m so glad, I switched even if it means A BUNCH of uncertainty. 💖💖Here’s to being an artist and running a small business!! 💜💜

Ohhh I’ve always wanted to know the behind the scenes of being a self employed artist! This is really what I want to do in the future with my art and now I’m a bit more excited with an actual visual of what needs to be done!

Gahh thank you for making this video 😭. Very proud of you by the way you seem very happy and proud of your journey! Im currently a sophomore and I love doing art, making jewelry, and want to get into digital art. I get frustrated when asked "what am I going to do when im older?" Or "what is my career path?" Im still undecided about that but ive been wanting to have a small business and just focus on what makes me happy which is art. I am going to work my way into the small business community. :)

Been a self-employed artist for about 14 years now. Only recently started making 5-600 a month so this is encouraging. I'm disabled, so all I have is art.
