Mensa actually means round table in Latin to show that everyone is considered equal

I haven’t fit in to any group I have been in my entire life, then perhaps Mensa is where I should head too. Excelsior :)

The real genius in Mensa is the guy who got them to pay for something to brag about

Any club that would have me as a member, I would not want to join!

the harsh truth is Mensa uses your ego against you. Not a conspiracy theorist, I like their goal and support them, it’s just what they do.

The best part about joining MENSA is the group doubles as the 40 year old virgin group as well.

I have been Mensa qualified since 1965 (based on external tests) and a member since 2018. The organization is a social club for people with high test scores. It is not a society of geniuses. If you want an idea of who belongs, think of the kids who always got the highest test score in your school. But not the ones who went to Yale or MIT, if there were any. The person who goes on to become a renowned scientist, a Wall Street lawyer or an analyst with the CIA is not going to join an organization whose major activity is having a monthly meeting at a local pizza joint or a Chinese restaurant. The kid who is more likely to join Mensa is the one who pitched pennies with the C students during lunch hour, not the one who strived to go to best college and have a highly placed career.

One thing Mensa is vexed by is its own institutional fantasies about how exclusive it is. Mensa accepts the major college admissions test for membership. This includes the SAT, ACT, GRE and LSAT. Mensa also accepts the military general aptitude test, but here is the rub. Except for the LSAT, Mensa does not accept administrations of admission test after 1994 at the latest or the military test after 1980. Someone who took the military test in 1980 is at least 60 years old today, and someone who took the SAT in 1994 is at least 45 years old today. Refusing to take later tests flies in the face of logic. There has to be a median IQ for those at every level of score on any test and also a median score on every test for those at every IQ level.

The end result is that Mensa is a very old organization, and it is not likely to get many younger members if it continues to not accept more recent iterations of the common college and university tests. Being in Mensa is something of interest only to a person who is the member. I don't think anyone should be mentioning their Mensa membership on their resume or vitae. I wouldn't.

Many people with 'Mensa level' intelligence have another way of looking at the world; the society and life; so it is only natural for them to have a place like Mensa.

Normally if you have a discussion, and challenge that person's views or beliefs, they automatic and immediately see it as an attack on their person. Also the depth and level of research on the discussed matter, if any, is mostly very shallow. And, even if presented with facts, they have no will nor interest in changing their views or beliefs.
Just look at the patterns today: 'cancel culture'; 'wap culture' which leads to superficial and empty human interactions, forever damaged pair-bonding, single-motherhood with damaged and lost children, or to a single lonely life (though with a cat or dog) when the party time is up; racisme 'sold' as non-racisme and non-racisme 'sold' as racisme; clumsy and awkward behaviour becoming sexual abuse or assault, feelings trumps facts. Etc...

People with 'Mensa level' intelligence look at a discussion more as a way to become better, a way to learn new things, discover and learn others way of thinking and way of looking at and handling problems, more real and genuine interest in the other person. Etc...

So, in this light, it looks like 'the cult' is on the outside of Mensa...

What's crazy is that members are so damn intelligent but still got psychologically manipulated into paying just to join the group..

All with such high IQs, yet they can't work together to give Musk competition or save the planet or anything really useful. I think that thinking outside the box and outside the box around that box is more important than IQ. Creative thinking is more important.
