Mensa is a joke. I've been completely disappointed.

Same as elsewhere, in Romania (~900 members, btw), Mensa is too much about socializing, a tiny bit about arts and other chillin' activities... and too little about putting brains to use.

Are there any inventions (e.g. a simple can opener), medical treatments, or scientifical discoveries that have been facilitated by Mensa?

... are there programs that support high IQ kids to end up making a use of their potential instead of ending up failing? -- we all know it is more likely to fail as an intelligent kid, because it is less likely to integrate.

How about programs that "recycle" a homeless highly intelligent person?, or one working as a genitor, mopping floors, but is obviously capabile of doing so much more.

... you know, "for the benefit of the human kind".

So... what is Mensa? For some, I've noticed, it's some thing that looks good in their CV. Something to brag about.

According to iq tests, I should be allowed in Mensa, and I don't think Mensa is as good as people say they are. They don't seem to be encouraging learning, and more like, "oooo, you're smart, here is a group of more smart people to socialize with because were too good for "normal people." Maybe that's just me, but I see less innovation, and more partying.
