There’s a couple ways to approach Corbett’s. This is considered the safest one. And if you’re scared (which honestly, when you see it, you should be at least a little rattled) this is a perfectly acceptable way to tackle it. That said, as you can see it’s very narrow and you have to make some pretty pinpoint turns.

The other popular alternative is to just send it off the right. Which, is about a 30 foot drop. If you land in your backseat, you will most likely yard sale. Sending it takes a pretty strong iron will, but oddly enough it’s probably one of the safest routes IF you land it safely, because the rest of the slope isn’t too bad and the slope opens up considerably once you get through the initial chute

All said, no one should make fun of this method until they peer over the ledge of it. There’s a reason why it has a reputation. It’s a very scary run.

Perfectly respectable, safety first, cautious, instructor type skiing. However, I assume it was his first time. Let’s see his second run.

I love non first person ski videos because you get a much better understanding of just how steep these drops and slopes are

For all the people talking shit, it's a different story when you're standing up there ;)

Me and my wife conceived our first child while doing a modest backflip strait off the edge! We named him Couloir.

It was awesome. We took our high school government teacher down Corbets 20 years ago on a ski club trip. Still the coolest teacher and now superintendent of a school district in Idaho. Mark Kress stay awesome

So bad. I did a backflip and still had time to cure cancer and create world peace mid jump smh

I did a triple back flip, made a phone call and had a cup of coffee last time I sauntered into Corbets. The only problem I had was clearing all the gawkers away who were blocking my path, and hordes of people demanding my autograph and selfies with me afterwards.

I threw a switch triple cork into this thing, the spring of 2011. I was spinning so fast my GoPro helicoptered off my helmet into orbit. never to be seen again. Although my dad said he thought he spotted it from the window of the space shuttle on his way to the moon (for the 3rd time) but decided it was unsafe to grab it. Plus he’s seen me go way bigger into corbits. Anyway, I stomped the maneuver flawlessly other than a slight backseat landing. If you’re a real big sender like myself this is the video you want to spend a minute on. Ps I was born without any toes or cartilage in my entire body.

Damn looks like we have alot of expert skiers in this comment section, even though I'm guessing half of you have only skied once and got to go on a blue so suddenly you're an expert.

Back in 0'12 I did a 900 alley oop off of this with a pair of broken skis and homemade poles. I used shoelaces to tie my sandals to the skis.
I also walked up the mountain uphill both ways.

As the best skier on the mountain, I cooked eggs in the tram line, farted in the tram, whacked my poles on the top and told everybody nearby that I’m so much better than them. After jumping in I called my mom while doing a rodeo 5

That looks really difficult in those snow conditions

Nicely controlled and safe. Skied technically beautifully when in the couloir. Not a half bad instruction if you ask me, although it might not be intended as such. As an instructor: first thing I teach is keep it safe. Side stepping and sliding are invaluable tools for that. Is that skiing? No, not really. But it gets you down safely with minimal risk. To each their own.
(And ofcourse, if you are teaching Kings and Queens athletes, this is not what you would do.)

I spent most of the season in Jackson in 1997. What impresses me most now is how much bigger a drop this has become. I had heard that the season I was there was a bigger snow year, but cannot be sure.
Anyway- the drop is at least double what it was. It was no big deal to huck it. On low snow days we would go from skiers left and plant a turn on the face to the right, (more like a wall plant) or just straight from the nose on powder days.

But the drop was nowhere near the same.
