I did a surprise "Show and tell" I introduced the game, then I gave everyone a few seconds to grab something WITHIN REACH, then we took turns telling about it. That was a lot of fun

Thank you for sharing these! They are great ideas, that inspired some variations! I will be doing these with my classes starting next week! THANK YOU!

People Bingo: Ask “getting to know you questions, ” and each student raises their hands if the question applies to them (“How many of you have more than 3 siblings?” “How many of you have ever been outside our state?” and so on). The Zoom/Meets GRID view is the bingo board, and the people raising hands are the mark on that bingo square; classmates have to write down the names of the hand-raisers and then share their screen when they think they have a bingo line or blackout or four corners or whatever

Variation on Box of Lies: the student accurately answers “20 questions” from the class about the item in the box/bag, and tell the truth in response. So, if it’s a cactus, the questions would be something like, “What color is it? - Green” // “Is it alive?- Yes?” // “Is it an animal? - No” // “Is it a plant? - Yes” and the class has to guess what's in the box/bag

The celebrity name game can be played with any words really, but you could keep it themed (maybe fruits or animals) if you want more of a challenge. The game is called shiri-tori in Japanese. There's another Japanese word association game called "Magical Banana" (which I call magical strawberry because I teach middle school) where each person has a countdown to say a word that is directly related to the word spoken by the previous player. The rest of the audience acts as timers and judges, so if someone takes too long or says a word that isn't obviously related to the previous word they get buzzed/skipped/whatever you decide. You can have an almost infinite number of variations to this game by adding different rules(ex. all words must relate to a central theme AND the word before) and formats (can be done written, typed, spoken, etc.).

Thank you so helpful. As an English ESL Tutor I often host workshops, therefore have to have fun activities for new attendees and ice breakers.

Thx for sharing. so helpful. Ive got another idea for the game called *That alphabet game*.
As the teacher, we write every word student mentions while playing the game. In the end of the game, we can make a story with the words. This is similar to Madlibs -making a weird or crazy story, even with unrelated words.
