The Jedi did not want to enter it because they sensed there was a greater darkness at play, and they did not want their order to be tainted by the darkside.

Revan’s faction entered because they saw it their duty to defend the people against the Mandalorian onslaught, and he put on the mask of a Mandalorian who defied her faction because she knew that massacring civilians was not the way of the Mandalorian.

I like this idea because my personal belief is that Revan was the chosen one of the old republic era, preforming many acts that fit exactly with both the Jedi and Sith versions of the chosen one prophecy. Bringing balance to the force, showing an aspiration and pull towards both sides, and in the end resulting in the fall of their era's respective sith controlled empires. I think if Anakin ever learned the truth about Revan and what REALLY happened to him and not the biased teachings of what the jedi said happened to him, he would relate very heavily with Revan, especially after learning that he fell in love with someone just like Anakin did. I then believe that Anakin, at a moment of vulnerability such as when Ashoka left the order, would call out the council for being way to heavily involved in politics. Making a manifesto and speaking with important figures in the order about their opinions on things like attachment and being open to emotions. Gathering enough support to force the council out of their (quite literally) ivory tower and change the order or to face a coup.
Another way you could look at it could be when the clone wars starts, the jedi takes so many casualties at the battle of Geonosis the council decides to stay out of the war, and Anakin, losing an arm as well as feeling so many deaths at the battle his emotions overrule the councils decision and he takes a contingent of jedi to fight the CIS without the councils permission. Mirroring the original story of what happened with Revan during the Mandalorian/Republic wars. Slowly turning to the dark side on the way, being subdued by sideous and fully converted. Following the story of Kotor pretty closely. That would be a fun fanfic to see.

What if Anakin didnt kill dooku? Even if he understood how unfogivable Sith training can be, I bet he'd really started to resent Palpatine maybe so much that his eyes would become rage-filled like those of the "proper sith". With his arms sliced up, even if he made a escape he'd have to get cybernetics and he'd not be able to use force lightning without breaking them.
