The Riddle with No Answer from Alice in Wonderland

In Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter asks Alice a riddle:
"Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?"
When Alice asks for the answer, the Hatter replies
"I haven't the slightest idea!".
Lewis Carroll hadn't written an answer to the riddle when the story was published, and it was never supposed to have one. But that didn't stop people coming up with their own answers...

That's fascinating! I know authors don't know the answer to everything in their stories but it seems silly not to have a real, fun answer to a riddle in your novel 😂 wasted opportunity for more nonsense imo!

I like the one where neither are approached without caws. That's great!

A riddle like a poem is a way of communicating in a more deep and meaningful way than if you just explained normally. A picture can say a thousand words if you word it right. " Anywhere is within walking distance if you have the time. Remember the author he has hidden something in the story. At face value it looks like nonsense perfectly encoded to hide it's message to the ones that can see it. What is it? Well you would hand a loaded gun to a little child would you? Neither would eye.
