Interesting list Janelle! I agree with you on most but you'll have to pry felt hangers out out of my cold dead hands!!! 😂

I used to use wood exclusively but they take up a lot of space and it's often not needed (for example when hanging button-down shirts!).
I replaced most of them some 7-8 years ago with decent quality felt ones. I picked a light grey colour and none have stained my clothes and I haven't had one break yet.

No one type of hanger works for all situations and that's the case for felt hangers too.

I don't use them to hang-dry delicate clothes - those go on plastic hangers in the laundry room until dry then onto the felt ones for storage. This prevents any possible colour transfer.

I don't use them for very heavy winter or leather coats - those go on wooden hangers because of the weight and the coats' need for support at the shoulders. I have a couple of leather/winter coats that are actually on two or three wood hangers taped together so the shoulders don't get misshapen over time!

I don't use them to hang pants either - those go on rubber-coated metal clip hangers because the felt ones are designed to grip the fabric and not let it slide!

If you keep those exceptions in mind, felt hangers can be a game changer in keeping your clothes storage streamlined and organised!

I have some old wooden hangers that are chipping (over 65 years old) and plan to cover them in a felt adhesive product.

So true about wooden hangers lasting. I have my mums wooden hangers they would be seventy yrs old, or more and are still in my home. i wont buy anything but wooden.
