Cried like a baby in this scene. Here we see Paul losing his last bit of innocence, and his futile attempt to reclaim it as he tries to help the man he just stabbed.

The thing that made this scene so sad is that it feels like it goes on for a eternity which accurately depicts the book where it took multiple hours for the French soldier to die

This scene is so upsetting I had to google the actor Marek Simbersky just so I could try to change the memory of the scene for myself. IMO Marek Simbersky's acting although no words, was the best performance in the movie.

A very sad and heartbreaking scene that shows us what it was like to be on the battlefield. Very sad scenes that reflect how far human beings could lead a country with innocent lives.

Lucky enough to receive a direct hit from a bomb shell and just get knocked down. Unlucky enough to get stabbed to death by a guy 20 meters away while reaching for his rifle 1 meter away

Эта сцена мне напомнила сцену из фильма Спасти рядового Райана, смерть рядового Стэнли Меллиша.

Mio nonno Guglielmo, classe 1887, riuscì a sopravvivere alla Grande Guerra. Alpini Fiamme Verdi, fronte italiano. Una volta rientrato a casa non corse più in vita sua; lo aveva fatto troppe volte sui campi di battaglia del tempo. Forse un modo per cercare di dimenticare. Rip. MV

It's never that easy to stab someone in the chest. You pretty much have to rip it back out.

When I first watched this scene I keep complaining about him screwing around with the French soldier instead of ending the suffering. In child like naivety trying to console his own shattered mind denying what he has done he extended the man's last moments of pain and suffering.

"The only thing worse than killing is to try and look away. Don't take your eyes away from it, don't forget their face even for a moment, because I guarantee they'll never forget you." - Kimblee FMA: Brotherhood
