Rarely I see life hacks that actually make life convenient.

I used to have warm water from a water heater do the job but this is more convenient and just does enough "heating" to melt the ice.

Holy WOW! Thank you SO much. That was SO simple and quick! I thought for sure it was gonna take half the day! I ran the shop vac for about 10 min, then I took a hammer and LIGHTLY tapped along the top edge of each side: the ice fell off in giant sheets!

We have an upright freezer and I use a box fan to deice it. Shims under the fan to aim it up a little helps get rid of the ice near the top. It takes 20 -30 minutes to melt the ice and a turkey roaster pan in the bottom will catch most of the water. Because this method is so easy, you can defrost it more often and save a few bucks on electricity.

Wow! Christmas morning and I'm faced with need to pack my freezer with food and the ice is 2 inches thick. This is amazing!!! Plus for the big ice on the bottom that I couldn't reach, I switched the hose to vacuum and it picked the ice chunk up so I could drop it in a bin. Then I vacuumed the rest of the water out of the bottom.
