“They’re not the best at what they do… they’re the only ones who do what they do.” Raised with a dead head from child hood. My brother- Gil Herrera RIP. I’ll see you on the other side with Jerry. 😊

My favorite band. A lot of people's favorite band. The connection and joy you feel with the music is impossible to fully capture with the limitations of words in the English language, or any language.

It was the 70s at the Boston Gardens and I heard the Dead for the first time. It was the greatest energy I ever felt in a crowd that large. The Duel Drummers where mesmerizing ‼️ I remember the feeling of safety and, happiness that was all around me while we danced the night away.
IT WAS FABULOUS ‼️

My father passed away two months ago, and he was a Deadhead. He would have been so happy to see the band at the Kennedy Center Honors. My dad loved music, and we heard many different music genres, especially the Grateful Dead when I was growing up. Dad even took up bass guitar lessons. I heard Grateful Dead sometimes in the background, but I've started getting into it since Dad passed. I know I'll think of him whenever I listen to the Grateful Dead. Music is one of the many ways I keep my dad in my heart. ❤I miss you, Dad. I bet he's having a jam session with Jerry Garcia, Ron McKernan, and Phil Lesh in heaven.

Yes! 'his heavenly solos cut with an outlaw edge and transported you to other worlds" re: Jerry Garcia. he's not my favorite guitar player but many worship him devotedly! I love the dead for their songwriting!

Love the little shot of Al Franken in the audience. Famous Deadhead.

A lot of negative comments being thrown towards Miles Teller. I am happy that someone born in 1987 is such a big fan. Having young Deadheads keeps their legacy going well into the future.

reading all of these comments tells me that all of us who have love for the dead are brothers and sisters in some spiritual way.

Careful with the dead.
Lots of my old favourites have been ruined for me because of the dead.

I love Jerry, but he was no "virtuoso guitarist." An overall genius, no doubt, whose songwriting abilities (music and melody, at least) were far better than his detractors acknowledge, but Lesh and Weir always impressed me more as players (well, not Weir NOW, but Weir in the 70s, most definitely).

Super weak. This "honor" could have easy been written by a 2023 chatbot. Zero insight, nothing fresh, no heart, no soul. Sorry but whoever put this on could have found plenty of celebrities with more to say from the heart.
