This method is sometimes referred to as "Laundry Stripping" and is honestly the most effective way of cleaning dirty hats.

Good advice for stinky fabrics! I wonder if you washed a new hat that way if the water would be gray too. When I wash dark clothing, the water always becomes darker than the wash with lighter colored clothing. That's why I wash the dark clothes separate from the white or lighter clothes, so the dye from the dark won't get on the white. Dark always seems to fade, even with no soap, just water.

Do you have a link to buy the hats? I have the hat cage and I just spray it with spray and wash and put it in the washing machine with clothes and leave it in the cage and hang to dry

I wash in washer with rest of pants and don’t use dryer just stick on styfoam head and let dry

Got a 1554 and pto stopped working.. Clutch is showing grounded, , i think, , (reads like 0.02 ohms) so borrowed another off someone.. Only plugged the one i borrowed in to see if it would engage but won't.. The borrowed one reads 2.8 ohms.. Still won't engage.. Did put a new pto switch on it.. I'm lost now on next thing to do..

Figured this video was a perfect fit for you and all the other hat wearing small engine community mechanics. I never realised before that Jake uses 5 hats and i only have ONE not sure how this worked out i was sure we were equal partners but i guess i only control 20% and the President holds 80% eh? Next job on your list is to wash mine likely smells like cigarettes but have been off the cigs now for 3 months so a fresh start for my hat is called for right?
