I have an older tomato pin cushion that I numbered the sections with needle sizes. Top ones are one type, middle are type 2 & bottom area needles are type 3 needles. You can label the type to your needs.

I mark the shank with red sharpie so I know it's been used, and put it back in the case with the new ones.

If you can’t afford that you can also make sure to leave a thread tail attached to your needle. That’s what I do and if I forget I always put them in the left side of the original case.

I use a round pin cushion and write on the sections . But this is much better! I’d love easier access to a link to buy one!
