We owned one that we used to clean the storm water drains that had leaves and dirt them. We'd put the hose as far in as possible, and run came out. When the water ran clear, we backed it up 6-8 feet and ran it again until the water turned clear. Eventually, we flushed all the dirt from the pipe.

I love these things. I lived in a house that had a sewer lateral that was very flat and prone to clogs. We would run hot water into the tub and sink to create head pressure and when the levels would start to drop we would run the water for 20 minutes to clear the line.
These bladders are awesome! You shove them in the line and turn the water on. They swell up and keep pressure on the clog until it breaks up and dislodges.

I would be apprehensive to use it on the toilet though. A blown out wax ring would make a frickin’ mess.

I have used those bladder type drain cleaners, and they do work pretty well. I use them for preventative drain maintenance, I periodically flush out a problematic drain every so often. They seem to work better if the drain is not totally clogged but very slow draining.

these don't work for everything but they're great for regular drain clogs like TP and kitchen clogs....

I have 2-3 different sizes of these pulsators. Good for general use, but worthless against roots.

The only thing I know that works better is to not have women in the house. The hair and stuff they put down the sink are the cause of all my plumbing issues.
