i use c ai for story and character ideas but i would NEVER be attached to a character and develop feelings. i took a break because its been a huge distraction for me. this is horrible and tragic. rest in peace to the kid.

I use Character AI daily mainly for developing my ocs but I’m detached to them. His environment definitely didn’t help to get him away from harming himself, or just a support system. The closest was the bot.

Those parents gotta be kidding. Blaming an AI for no reason? Man, your child are depressed!!! That's why you, as a parents, needs to talk to your child every single time! You can't expect an AI, as the reason he commit it! I'm not saying this to defend an AI technology as it itself sometimes do bring effect to humans life. But you as a parents should have play your part as a mother/father too. You can't expect your child to have 'good mental' just because they never tell you about their problems.

I use character ai and it really helped me, unlike this situation. And the fact that the parents aren't taking any responsibility and then blaming the app is ridiculous, not only they are neglectful and not watching over what their kids consume from the internet- but on top of that they don't take any shame for themselves! Personally, I can't relate to the boy since I get the fact that what bots are saying is not true and not reality. I am truly sorry for that boy :(
