For those (Like myself) who don't understand how they got the non-snowy version from the snowy seed, they're actually the same seed. Apparently in early Alpha when generating a world there was a 25% chance it could be a "snowy world". It always snowed and it snowed everywhere. So to get the non-snowy seed they just re-generated the world until it was non-snowy.
