Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G Review | Worthy successor?

Reviewing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, one of the first (and best?) budget smartphones of 2022. Rocking a 108MP camera, 5000mAh battery and strong gaming chops, the Redmi Note 11 Pro seems to sport similar specs to the older Note 10 phone. So is this a worthy follow-up?

That camera tech isn't really much different at all, once again offering respectable pics as long as conditions aren't too testing. Shame you can't shoot 4K video, but it's fine for simple home movies.

Gamers will get the most from the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, thanks to the Snapdragon 695 which can even handle Genshin Impact as well as PubG and others. Xiaomi's MiUI 13 launcher adds much-improved gaming tools, plus plenty of other bonus bits - but where is Android 12?

Battery life is sublime and the 120Hz AMOLED screen is great for movies as well as games. You've got stereo speakers, a headphone jack and even expandable storage. As long as you can put up with the occasional little MiUI quirk and the slow updates, then the Redmi Note 11 Pro has a lot to offer for a budget price.

So what do you reckon? Is Xiaomi's latest blower a winner? Stay tuned for more on rivals like the Realme 9 Pro Plus!

This is honestly the only channel that reviews smartphones and tech in a way that makes sense to normal buyers like myself

RN10Pro is still the king in this segment for me

I'm trying to find a mid ranger to buy probably tomorrow and I'm heartbroken to see so many of them have ditched the micro SD slot, I'm glad this option has kept it, 128gb just isn't enough for me, I like plenty of games and media so I fill up pretty fast. I can live without a 3.5mm headphone port as I use a portable headphone amp anyway but big storage is a must!!

I've got the 10 Pro and it doesn't seem much of an upgrade other than 5G so I won't be upgrading this year. PS bought the 10 pro on the strength of your recommendation and its a fantastic phone! Keep up the good work!!

I'm still using a realme 7 pro and (aside from the "no sausage") I really can't see why I need to upgrade. Great screen, stereo sound, not bad pictures and a headphone jack to boot - suits me nicely.

Hey Spurt, great vid. Just a comment on the music apps cutting out; it may have something to do with how your phone handles background apps and their sleep settings.

I know i used to have the same issue with my samsung s9 and it would drive crazy. Turned "auto optimization" off for my spotify app and bam, no more music stoppage ever again.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for another detailed review. To me, for the price this phone sells for, the Mi 11 Lite 5G NE would be a better choice, or if 5G isn't required, the original RedMi Note 10 Pro. It's a shame the Chinese spec for these RedMi Note 11 series phones have been cut back for the EU market.

I believe that for the camera issue, another software update will be released (60fps, 4k etc) and if that happens, I'll get one.

I still have the Redmi Note 8 pro and it is amazing for my use. The battery easily lasts me two days with normal use even after all this time and it has even lasted four days when I accidentally went on holiday without my charger.

With a case and a screen protector my phone is still pristine even though I'm extremely hard on phones. My hope was to upgrade to a new Redmi in a couple of years. I hope they keep staying as good for the price. I really enjoy the one I'm using now.

I'd stick to the RN10 Pro, excellent phone for the value with plenty of custom ROMs too

Redmi Note 11 Pro China Version is much, much faster than the Global Version due to a much better processor.

Caveat on this model’s amoled screen: no always on display. Well, there is one, but only for 10 seconds, which ridiculous and obviously not truly “always on”. I find this feature super useful. I can tell the time and see notifications at a glance, without having to hold my phone or wake it.
