AEG Washing Machine..should you buy one? I give YOU, the consumer, the info you need to make a smart purchase. In this review, I review the AEG 9000 Series Washing Machine, model number L9FEC966R.

I think these machines give you the best BALANCE in terms of performance and value for money:

What sets AEG washing machines apart are the things like:
Features
Build quality
Durability
Warranty
Wash performance
Spin performance
Innovation in the field
Brand prestige
Simplicity and lack of gimmicky features
Value for money

NOTES FROM THE VIDEO:
1. My washing machine: AEG ProSteam Technology L9FEC966R - I got it on sale for about 30% off the RRP
2. Remember, this is just my opinion based on what I have seen. I am not saying AEG washing machines are proven to be the best!
4. SoftWater Technology is one of my favourite features from AEG. The machine has a salt drawer which you fill up with regular dishwasher salt. This means you can use less detergent in your washes - this means fewer impurities chemicals circulating your machine. This can only be a good thing!
5. Okomix Technology - this is another one of my favourite features. Okomix technology refers to how the washing machine dispenses detergent into the drum. The machine first pre-mixes any chemicals with water (e.g. detergent/fabric softener). This means there is an even distribution of detergent inside the drum, which leads to better overall performance

We have an AEG Oko_Lavamat 86800 update. Opened the rear a few days ago, still has the original belt. What impressed me the most, how tough and solid was the metal chassis used as a weight balancing mechanism. The machine is damn heavy, but absolutely solid. Over 10 yrs old, was a hand me down and we've had it for 9 yrs. Never been serviced. 1600rpm. Kicks ass! 😂
You can't beat AEG. Solid as a rock! 😊👍😊👍. Looking to upgrade as the dispenser packed up 8 months ago and we can't get parts because it's so old. 🤣
Great video, to the point, and thank you for keeping it real. 👍😊
Cheers young man.

Nice review from a aesthetics perspective, but from an engineering standpoint AEG would not come up best.
1. @ 75db spinning, they are among the loudest on the market, not one AEG is quietmark certified, whereas Miele, Whirlpool/New Hotpoint H8 range, LG, Samsung and even Haier group machines are all over 3 db quieter, which equates to 50% quieter.
2. The doors are no more better built than other manufacturers, all made from PolyP with plastic bushing on metal hinges.
3. AEG use Suspa soft start dampers, which are designed to reduce vibration through to the shell, others like Bosch an Miele also use these same dampers, but these two Bolt the dampers to the frame securely, unfortunately AEG only use plastic pins to secure the dampers, resulting in a kind of clattering effect when starting up the spin.
4. AEG like Bosch and Many other Brands on the market, used welded drums, so if the bearing fails, it’s bye bye washing machine, or a hefty repair bill,
A Miele can have its bearing replaced at a fraction of the cost, even Haier and Hisense drums are still bolted so they can be split to replace bearings.
5. Like steam, the soft water dispenser is also a gimmick, its a shame they did not put auto dose on them instead as anyone can buy a household filter system that softens water to the whole house, which negates the need for built in softener on any machine.
6. AEG like all brands bar Miele use wire infused concrete counter weights and plastic tubs, Miele use cast iron weights and stainless tubs (on their higher end machines), although it is rare that a concrete weight does not outlast the machine, so Mieles cast weight is somewhat in vein, AEG top end machines use Carboran outer tubs which is significantly stronger than some steels and was first used in Zannusi machines and is a plus on their part.
7.As an engineer who has pulled many machines apart, I could not say that the modern AEG units are any better built than Whirlpool/Hotpoint or Haier, Samsung or LG, they all have their quirks and plus and minus points.
8. Good balancing is always a plus point, Some machines allow a fuzzy logic spin like AEG, which allows a level of out of balance to be acceptable, and others like Haier and Fisher Paykel and even the new Whirlpool W8 won’t spin unless the load is more balanced (this is my preference) however some will complain the machine is too sensitive or fussy, but from an engineering perspective, the smoother the better, as it equals less wear, less stress and less noise.
9. While a lot of people bang on about Miele being the best bla bla: yes Miele are better put together and the quality of some materials used is better, but their machines are not ‘from an engineering perspective’, the best. They like other manufacturers have their weaknesses, Miele W1 units for one, are probably one of the worse machines at balancing and spinning a load smoothly, their spring system is one of the noisiest on the market, their plastic facias are no more durable than most other brands,
Also, other brands like AEG etc allow you to purchase spares off the shelf from many outlets, unfortunately Miele try to keep spares only available via them,
and at a premium.
10. AEG may be a renowned brand, but the market is changing and other players are around now that are starting to do it better, like Fisher Paykel etc, and may be worth a look.

I have had my AEG 9000 series 9Kg machine for 3 years now and it has been absolutely brilliant. Quiet, straight forward to use, fantastic spin speed with clothes feeling almost dry when removed from the machine. Could not agree more with all your positive observations.

I've had AEG OKO Lavamat 20 years old still running....I trust this German brand

Tomorrow's they will deliver the new one we will use it for normal clothes, bed linen, curtains ( clean stuff )

We will continue to use the old AEG .. for washing the dirty stuff like working clothes, cleaning rag and wiping rag .

Thanks for the video! I'm glad I have 3 generations of AEG-the old Oko-Lavamat from 2000y., the middle-AEG Lavalogic, a beautiful washer and the Protex Plus-the first of new generation after which came 6000, 7000, 8000 and 9000 series. I love this washers. They are much cheaper than Miele, about 50% less money to pay and more efficient than the other. Thanks again for this video! 🙂🙂🙂

Great review. I would have bought AEG had I not been introduced to Miele. I'm from Canada but live in Australia, so we have UK/Euro sized machines, with some "American" sized ones. This machine impresses me a lot. Bought my Mieles in 2012 so a decade ago and still amazing, great door (looks just like your AEG), weighs 98kgs! Super quiet and efficient. But if they go, touch wood, probably go AEG....

What does yours sound like when starting. I have a pulsing sound like a heart beat sound almost. I think it could be the pump. It's brand new today and the loud sound has thrown me. Not sure if there's a problem

I bought an AEG machine after having another Hotpoint fail on me. Wow the difference. German engineering at its best. When it's spinning, very quiet and refined sounding.

How is a drum paddle (10 hole) on a 5yr old AEG 6000 series Lavamat 8kg replaced? Answers greatly appreciated.

I'm the same I don't understand why a washing machine or kettle would need Wi-Fi because you have delay start anyway.

Thanks for your video. I too don't want my washing machine to be another laptop: just wash my clothes with 5 star energy and water efficiency - and do it well - even in these times of planned obsolescence!

Hi there! I'm new to your channel and loving the content, especially the "wtf" moment with the LG machine sound - it made me and my 17-year-old crack up! We're actually curious if you have any updates on this machine after 3 years of use. Thanks!

I really love AEG/Electrolux/Zanussi! They are really good! I have a lot experience with Electrolux made machine... The build quality, supension, technolgy's design and more is mostly good! AEG washers are not the quietests but ye... The Ökopower programm is very good programmed, would like to have that cycle. And another reason why this AEG is good is that its so energy efficiënt! A+++-65%. I had an LG after a great Zanussi and it is really bad🤮. I mostly buy Electrolux made things now :). Also, somtimes Zanussi gives 4 year warranty too. Great video! Subscribed! :)

Do you remember the Lavalogic AEG, this was the best model they made, it was 12yrs ahead of Miele. Trying to find one, it's at least 14yrs old so it's a stretch.
