Secular music can be very entertaining but there are many secular songs in the world that have catchy melodies, thoughtful insights and positive messages. This determines the purpose, style and lyrics as well. The best music to listen is praise and glorifies God.

Yeah over the past year I decreased my secular music listening significantly & it has made a HUGE difference. I’m so much closer to God in every possible way. Worship is truly the best thing ever. Also I love Christian rap!! Perfect workout music. And if I do listen to secular music, it has to be 100% clean and cannot go a’g God’s laws. And it ABSOLUTELY has to respect women.

I'm not saying that we should never listen to a secular song, but I do see in scripture that we are to be separate from the world in many ways, this includes what we watch, listen to, where we go and so on. I had just started to listen to just Christian music in January of this year and I really glad I did because not too long after that the COVID hit us. if I had not started listening to that kind of music when I did I would not have seen how the LORD works even when things aren't going so well. Like if you grew closer to the LORD this year!!

When Billie Eilish just started to rise I was really into her music but then along the way I was like naah, her music just rubs me the wrong way now. I still haven't heard Cardi's song and I hope I will never hear it, it's pretty sad that the masses gravitate towards demeaning music

I gave up secular music for a while, completely, then slowly started listening again & I think I became too comfortable with it in my spirit, everyday I hear the songs playing in my head when I wake up, the lyrics aren’t bad, it’s general clean pop music, but this was convicting. I hardly listen to worship music anymore .’ I started unsubscribing to musicians while I was watching this, I’m lowkey becoming addicted then & youtube keeps recommending their videos, pray that I can give it up again 🙏

I think that Christians can listen to secular music. It really comes down to the lyrics and what the artist stands for. I listen to several secular artists, but I also listen to Christian music and love several Christian artists. Liked hearing your thoughts!

I was depressed for a good 6 months, and one day I said "hey I'm not going to listen to Juice World / XXXTentacion / any other depressing music, only Christian and classical music"
and WOWWWW my depression zoomed out of existence

This is something that I struggle with, thank you for sharing. I listen to all kinds of music, but only keep up with Christian. I notice when I listen to Christian music, I feel a lot better. Every once in awhile, I'll go back and listen to something that I listened to in jr. High.

Christians can listen to secular music if it has an inspirational and positive uplifting message, and not trash like Cardi B and 6ix 9ine
A good example of good music in hip-hop is NF, no swearing and he talks about real stuff including his relationship with God.

I used to like Billie Eilish so much but figured out that her music is quiet dark and blasphemous. As Christians we are to completely depart from worldliness, James 4:4, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Ephesians 5:11.
We should live a life of holiness, Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:14-16, Luke 1:74-75, 2 Corinthians 7:1. Our spirit, soul and body should be BLAMELESS before God 1 Thessalonians 5:23.
We should make sure that what we listen is holy, lovely, and of good report Philippians 4:8.
We should make a covenant with our ears not to listen to worldy songs

April 2020 I fell down to my knees and cried out to the Lord to deliver and forgive me of my past... (New age, yoga, drugs, junk food addictions and a host of other ungodly practices). He’s been helping me and saving me ever since. Jesus Christ is real, he is alive, his word is true.

If you’re on the fence about the bible and Christianity I challenge you to challenge Jesus. Push into him and his word and see for yourself. Read the book of Romans, Corinthians, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, Ephesians, Peter, Timothy...

And if you havn’t yet be born again by water and the spirit, the Holy Spirit.

Amen and God bless you sons and daughters of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I mostly listen to country music (yeah, strange for a city boy from the UK), the good thing about country is it's mostly clean and fun, about love, hard work and sometimes even Christian, but, I'll listen to pretty much any type/genre of music so long as it sounds good (which is very subjective), however, if the lyrics are extremely vulgar or I have a problem with the artist, I won't.
I don't allow secular music to influence my thinking or my life, it's just temporary entertainment, not something life-fulfilling, it's like watching a movie or playing video-games, a short escape from the real-world.
Aside from WAP actually sounding like trash, the lyrics are straight-up disgusting, I don't know how it blew up or how that criminal became so famous and is now influencing so many young people, especially girls, and normalizing such sinful and degrading behaviour. Satan is working hard, but God won't allow him to prevail.
