I think the other reason they're controversial is that they're supposed to be nonative/invasive? And if you don't like them, once they get established, good freaking luck getting rid of them. XD They do make a gorgeous landscaping plant though.

I don't keep them cuz dogs but also because I hate the way that they smell and how irritating and abrasive they are on the skin if you happen to brush them, or if you're trying to pull them and haven't bothered to go get your gloves.

But if folks are looking for a plant that will be gorgeous when it's gorgeous, and will be very hard to kill and mostly just require cutting back once a year or so, then they're a good choice.

The Lantana plant is gorgeous.
I receive controversial informations. Some sources said that every part of the plant is toxic and can harm livestock and other plants. Other sources claim the plant has medicinal properties and is edible to both humans and pets.

What is your dig hole size to pot size ratio and how much water do you give it the first few weeks?

I have lantana's the smaller variety and some of them are the new type that really doesn't spread but they don't get that tall so I am going to try some taller varieties like the variety called Miss Huff I believe it's non-invasive as well
