You could extend the template rails/guides to about 12" or so and then clamp them with small clamps and in that way you would not have to rely on hand pressure to the template.

You could also put strips of sand paper on the parts that hold the edges of the cutting board. That would help keep it from riding up while you are routing the hole.

Love to see some more handle templates or measurements for some of the other handles you shown. for us drawing impaired
