I've watched dozens of DSLR review videos as I'm looking for a camera. Your videos are one of best. Thanks for sharing!

The numbers are not based on exchange rates, they are based on the current sale value of the cameras in the UK and US (from Amazon for example). UK usually has more taxes duty involved which is why the prices are usually higher

Great piece. But I think the 7D is more a professional choice for filmmakers. I have 2 7Ds, a 60D and the FGV modified 7D body. The 7D in film comparison is like shooting 3perf motion picture 35mm. Awesome results when viewed in a theater.

70D is a teenager, while 7D is a mature adult.

I have used 7D but thinking about 70D..but my mind keep saying that 7D is much better for stills, doesnt matters when u compare the pixels [20.2MP nd 18MP]...not a big difference and it has got 5 modes for still but 70D has got only 3 modes...70D is mainly aiming at more featured videos..thats all..for normal still photographers 7D is the best out of 70D

I was just about to purchase a 7d before watching this. Now I'm thinking the 70d might be the one. Now I have to look into the 80d

People, the 7D is a monster. And the truth is that the extra 0, 5mm on the sensor size doesn't make the 70d bit on. However, the 70D has a better processor (Digic 5 plus), so...slightly better on low light conditions. Between the this two, I choose the 70d but the I believe the 7D Mk II will be awesome.

I like that the 70d has some bit rate settings for video. Very useful for us indie film makers and freelancers.

That was a very clear, succinct review.  About 2 years ago I bought a used 7D, with a 28-135 kit lens, that had 6k activations on the shutter for $1000.  It's been a great camera.  Of course when I bought my 7D the 70D hadn't come out yet.  Even if it had been available I'd probably have gone with the 7D anyway as I don't shoot much video and I'm not a fan of touch screen.  I like the buttons and switches on the 7D which, once I got used to them, allow me to make quick changes without having to look at the back screen.  To me, touch screen is gimmicky, but to each his own.  Wireless would be nice to have, but with my USB 3.0 card reader, I don't have any trouble transferring pictures from my high speed CF cards to my iMac quickly.  I like the heft and feel of the 7D - doesn't feel like a toy (like my SX50 does, for example).  I don't know if the 70D is built with a magnesium chassis, but the 7D is and it's dust and weather proof (which I love since I shoot outdoors in inclement weather a lot).  Also, I like to shoot sports and birds in flight, so I like having that extra bit of shooting capability in multi-shot mode. I think both are great Cameras and if better video capability was what I needed, and I was in the market, I'd probably go with the 70D.  But for me, the magnesium build and weather proofing makes the 7D my choice.  I am really looking forward to seeing what the 7D Mark II will have (if it's not just a rumor).

While I'm late seeing this, the side-by-side style of comparing stats is far superior to other "versus" clips I've seen...nice work Saf

I'm a proud owner of the 7D. It's a fantastic camera. The 70D, an upgrade to the 60D, also looks like a great camera - and it would definitely be worth considering as an alternative to the 7D. The only thing that would put me off the 70D is the plasticy body and the fact that the 7D MK 2 is in the making.

I'd go for the 7d due to its superior construction. I'd say that the swivel screen on the 70d is just another thing that might break. Both are great camera's, anybody should be happy with either.

Exactly, the hierarchy is 4digit -> 3digit -> 2digit -> 1digit.
Megapixel are for marketing purpose mainly (For people who know little about camera's but like to show off whilst amongst people who know even less). The 1Dx has 18 MP just as the 7D. Half of what the Nikon D800 has. Still we are talking about $7000, - body only.

Did the currency exchange rate change while this video was being shot. Those prices didn't match.

Good job there. Fast, strict and informative. A video test in terms of quality would be a cherry on the pie. Nevertheless, THX for this video.
