I had no idea some didn’t know “mono” means one channel; but then again; it is 2022. Some don’t even know what gender they are.🤣😂

Rookies and Keyboard Commandos should save this video.

Amen! Thank you Sundown for this video. It is amazing how I get an amplifier in, repair it, send it back out just to get an email saying "It only lasted 10 seconds". I ask what's your connected load... you know how this story goes. I deal with this issue every single day. I will point people to this video!

Newbies need to do some research before installing for the first time. Great demonstration

That is awesome that you showed how sensitive the voice coils are most people don't understand that when you're checking then and they're talking around you that vibration from their voice or yours can also make it jump just enough to make your multimeter not read right

Thank you for making this video. I've met a lot of hard headed people in my life time that never listened.

I was always curious on how those worked luckily my monoblock amp has 1 positive and 1 negative but now I know thank you Derek!!

Great video!! I always use my fluke meter just to double check all my wiring.

I’d like to know about mono amps that have 2 RCA inputs. Can we just use on of them?

the resistance on the leads on the multimeter is high. recommendations would be to use a higher quality multimeter.

I remember a guy arguing with me on youtube in like 2007 - 2008, and he called me an idiot because I didn’t “bridge” my “monoblock” amp correctly in a testing video I had up (only had speaker wire connected to one set of terminals for my testing). I couldn’t help but laugh, as I repaired amplifiers and knew exactly what I was doing. I tried to explain that it was a single channel mono amp and the terminals were wired parallel internally for convenience, and it didn’t matter which set I used, and it was not a 2 channel so you can't bridge it, but I don’t think he could comprehend it was not 2 channels, and in his mind I was the idiot for not bridging it right; some people swear they know everything and you simply can’t educate them. I think I got this a few times over the years.

This man explains it plain easy to understand terms I had soany questions about car audio and he answered the. All in just a few of his videos

I wired my d2's to 1 ohm each and used all 4 outputs on my sfb, I figured it would see the 2 ohm load. Now I hear it's actually at .5? Thanks for saving me on that one. I knew it was one channel, glad I didn't rock it at full tilt yet.

Excellent explanation, My question is if my amplifier is mono block and only has 1RCA input will it hurt it to run the right and left from my stereo into a single input to the amplifier

It would be nice if you showed how to wire it using 2 speakers both being dual 4 ohm speakers, I think they would each need to be wired to 2ohm each right then when there hooked to to mono amp it would equal 1 ohm total

So since the amp is wired parallel internally. You could connect your dvc 2ohm subwoofer voice coils in series inside the boxes ( 2 voice coils on 1 sub tied to gather in series) run the + and - to the boxes terminal cups and take each speaker box cup and wire it to the 2 separate terminals on the amp that are hooked up in parallel internally. Makes a 2 ohm load correct? 2 ohm dvc subs VC hooked in series on each sub and then tied then hooked to the amplifier in separate connectors where they then are parallel??? Using both terminals on the amp but pulling just 2 ohms 🤷🏻‍♂️. In all the diagrams the hook on speaker to another and then pull from one terminal on the amp. But should be same to hook each sub to the amp by itself since the terminals are hooked in parallel inside the amp 🤷🏻‍♂️.

So are there any advantages to having a monoblock amplifier, or is it better to have a two-channel amplifier bridged into 1?

Thank you for the video. On a monoblock amplifier with multiple channels, is it a correct assumption that each subwoofer is playing the exact same signal "performing identically" (in theory) to the other subs since there is only one channel? Are all bass frequency amplifiers "Mono" amps?

A quick looksie in the good old manual would tell you that. Manufacturers put those papers in there for a good reason. When in doubt do what the Manufacturer says they've spent alot of time and money to find the best way to use their products. Unless it's an alpine subwoofer then ignore anything they say
