I'm sorry, but I just can't get over "Tarzan's journey to Wisconsin" 😂

I can’t believe Disney passed on the opportunity to set Tarzan in the wilds of Wisconsin.

One error, the captain taught him French.

Clayton just wanted what anyone would want in the books. He eventually makes up for the one bad thing he did which was hide Tarzans identity when he found the proof of his lineage. He thought without his title he'd lose Jane. But when he is starving and succumbs to fever he confesses and that it's okay for Jane to choose Tarzan over him, he's going to die anyway then he accepts his fate with a clear conscience.

Clayton is actually a pretty good guy in the book (by the standards of the time and no worse then tarzan himself)

Tarzan was taught French by the captain and later learned how to speak English. Although, Tarzan already knew how to read English because he taught himself as a child when he found his parent's treehouse that had his mother's lesson books she had brought in order to educate him as he grew up.

It’s worth noting that Clayton in the novel is as far removed from Clayton in the Disney film as possible. In the novel he’s actually a rather heroic character and serves as a sort of rival/foil for Tarzan. He isn’t able to save Jane but by god he puts in the work.

But Jane WAS happy with Clayton in the books. She was chill with him. Don't say her ending wasn't happy just because Tarzan's wasn't.

That’s a mature take on love there. He cares about her so much that he’s not willing to take his own rightful inheritance so she and his cousin can be happy together.

Ive never been interested in the book(s) but now i might have to read them. Learning that clayton is tarzan's cousin is fascinating to me

Correction: Tarzan is first taught to speak FRENCH by the captain, because the captain is french in origin and therefore has a better grasp of the language. However this causes confusion for Tarzan who can already read and write English and is therefore confused by the different words.

The sequels are wild, there's multiple stories about tarzan fighting a look alike pretending to be him

Fun fact: Tarzan taught himself to read English (from books) but did not speak it. The guy who “taught him English” actually taught him French—for example, Tarzan spelled out M-o-n-k-e-y and asked “how do you pronounce this word?” and was told “sanzh.” (Monkey in French is “Singe, ” but French vowels and consonants are different). This delayed his actually learning English for a bit.

Kind of like The Little Mermaid - sacrificial love. Putting the other’s peace and happiness ahead of your own. That’s actually beautiful.

The way I see it, this ending shows something amazing: Despite being “uncivilized” to other humans, Tarzan was still more mature than most of them. He didn’t go the “nice guy” route; he truly cared for Jane, and thus, he let her be happy. He wasn’t tempted by fortune; rather, he was content with the lush jungle that he had grown up in. It’s one of those endings that makes you think.

Danm I guess Tarzan wanted some cheese curds from our local culvers

The only Tarzan character that had a somewhat happy ending is ironically Clayton. He returned to his home and rich lifestyle mostly unscathed knowing he has newfound family in his cousin Tarzan.

Oh yes, the Tarzan sequels, featuring four different Tarzan look-alikes
