For those who don't know what item means, the oxford dictionary says.

"one thing on a list of things to buy"

That means the mounts are indeed an item because they are in a list and you can buy them.

I made a slight Error though. A draft horse is large size so that means you can't make that at level 3. Ops.

Of course, the rules text on Song of Creation does not specify that the item is friendly toward you or your allies, so it immediately turns hostile because it didn't ask to be created, forced into this world for barely a moment before being snuffed out again like dust in the wind. Also it is from the moment of it's creation to it's death assaulted by the sounds of music as it is always in contact with itself.

No I'm not suggesting you do this as a DM, I just think it's a funny way to interpret the rules.

Then you pick up 1 Druid level so you qualify for the Staff of the Woodlands. Attune to the Staff. Cast Awaken from the staff, lowering the casting time from 8 hours to 1 Action. You now have a sentient creature who will disappear from existence within a few hours, turning you into a very cruel god.

note that by the time an elephant could be afforded within the GP limit, 20th level, you would already be ignoring the GP limit as per the 14th level creation bard capstone.

Also note the Size restriction, horses are Large (most of them anyways) and so would not be available until 6th, elephants would only be available by 14th level

Also by this definition of item you can turn any old draft horse into an animated construct, which is rather strange indeed

Funk'n'dunk was a College of Creation Bard so powerful and so charismatic he could play the Song of Creation to influence the magics of the realm to create... life.
He had such a knowledge of lute he could even gift the ones he cared about an elephant.
The College of Creation is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.

And that is when you remmember that dungeons and dragons has a GM who can just say "no" because you are obviously just trying to abuse a mistake in the text.

If dungeons and dragons was a compuer game, than sure, have fun abusing any mistakes the developers did, but it's a tabletop rpg.

An even stupider realization is that animating performance also mentions a non magical item. So you could theoretically hijack the body of a random horse or another creature mentioned as an item in equipment and turn it into your animated ally.

I impressed my party by conjuring a keg of gunpowder just before a group of tough enemies came out and then dropped a _lightning bolt_ on top of the villains and the keg. I love this bard.

College of Creation is amazing because also it can be like "Hey artificer wanna see my piece?" and then they just summon a musket

All bards can create life. It's like a spell and the material components are a single bed. It has verbal and somatic components, although the verbal components can be left out for a higher chance to fail the ritual.
