‘Pray for us’: Florida hit by tornadoes ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall

Tampa City council member Bill Carlson has advised residents to not “go outside and test the wind” as Hurricane Milton approaches and tornadoes batter the US state of Florida.

Hurricane Milton is being labelled the worst storm to make landfall in more than a century.

Florida has also seen tornadoes ahead of Hurricane Milton’s expected landfall, which has caused some damage to the state.

“All over the region, we have tornadoes right now, and the best thing people should do is stay inside; don’t go outside and test the wind,” Mr Carlson told Sky News Australia.

“Please, everybody pray for us.”

After securing the remains of my uninhabitable home wrecked by Hurricane Helene, I evacuated to higher ground. 4 lanes plus emergency use shoulders of the highway were clogged with millions of evacuees. It took hours to drive less than 100 miles at 5 mph. I left Tampa Monday night. Governor DeSantis and Mayor Castor are to be praised. I pray people heeded all orders from officials. It is a matter of life and death. And death will come calling with this storm.

How can someone leave with no money, no car, a sick parent or child, etc. This is horrific. They have been telling the people thru the tv that if they don't leave - they will How very caring of them. With all the money the govt. has sent to other countries, they could have paid for every resident to evacuate and put them all in safe hotels.
