This is NOT a series called Minecraft VVSauce where I explore random features of Minecraft. Not Minecraft, but the water rises or Minecraft Manhunt but instead a skip the tutorial / block facts inspired list with 32 secret minecraft things you didn't know.

6:17 I believe that hoglins are scared of nether portals because if they go into the overworld they zombify, so this feature makes sure the only way to get a zoglin is intentionally, plus it makes sense lore-wise since hoglins have likely grown to fear nether portals. As for respawn anchors, the top of the block looks like a nether portal when lit.

Chests aren’t the only things in the game with custom recipe obtainment methods. Being in water unlocks the boat recipe :)

6:11 Maybe the hoglins are afraid of accidentally setting foot in the overworld and becoming zoglins as a result. Either that, or Mojang wanted them NOT to be spawn campers lol

Hoglins are scared of nether portals because in the overworld they turn in to a zoglin, and as a zoglin they turn against theyre brothers, the hoglins.

Probably the hoglin is scared of the respawn anchor because the devs didn’t want players to get spam killed by the hoglins staying around the anchors

12:40 Another fact on this that is important to remember is that brewing stands actually do NOT drop the item when mined with anything other than a pickaxe. I remember learning this the hard way in survival lol.

Actually, if I recall correctly, 15:12 isn't actually the only exception. Boats are unlocked as soon as you touch water instead of getting wood!

6:06 i think the reason for hoglins to be scared of nether portals and respawn anchors is to prevent them from spawn-camping you when you enter the nether for the first time and don't know how to deal with them, and when you respawn in the nether with no gear

They probably don't let hoglins near respawn anchors and nether portals is so that they don't kill you immediately after re-spawning or coming out of the nether portal.

14:08 this is to prevent Z fighting. if rails were placed right onto the block a rendering artefact would occur where the rendering engine flip flops between rendering the surface of the block on top and rendering the rails on top due to both peices of geometry sharing the exact same location, practically mashed together.

I think hoglins are afraid of respawn anchors because they don’t want a hoglin potentially spawn camping, and they are afraid of nether portals because the developers didn’t want players to be instantly rushed when entering the nether

i knew about enchantability from that one time i tried to make a mod years ago, but it's mostly from making modpacks. Sometimes configs have an enchantability stat you can tweak.

sort of knew the repeater one since people would build those in some of the early vids i saw.

didn't know about most of these though, since they're either new features (and i only just know migrated my modpacks to a version past 1.12), so this video was pretty neat.
