Greenwald is one of the few people on the left that I’ll give my time to anymore. It’s pretty refreshing to hear folks like him call leftists out for their woke garbage.

I often work in a home that has listening devices in almost every room--the kitchen, living room, office, next to beds and in bathrooms. When I listened to YouTube as I work, I would sometimes unplug the device in the room, but longer do because it's not my home. I was disturbed by the idea of these things, but remembered my smartphone, the thing I avoided until a couple of years ago, finally gave in because of limitations. I have taken some precautions with it, looking through the settings, downloaded apps for less tracking and still am not satisfied. I may get an audio jack blocker. I tried imagining what others must think of me, I probably seem paranoid, and clinging to the past. I just think it's bizarre that we gave in for the convenience and exchanged so much. It shouldn't be a big deal to choose what we reveal.

Feeling like you have to assume you're being watched and scrutinised all the time is a pretty good description of how it feels to live with social anxiety disorder. It's not just you get a bit jumpy around people, it's all the time. You imagine people that have seen you, thought you were ridiculous or amusingly noteworthy and are at this moment spreading the word that you're a reject and to be laughed at and about. It's a prison of the mind much like he described.
