Please remember that all the guitar audio in this video was captured using a room mic - in the video of the final 5, we go back to close miking the amps.

The amps used are a Victory V40 Deluxe (clean sound) & a Victory Sheriff 44 (dirty sound). The guitar is a Fender Elite HSS Strat.

God, that stratocaster is awesome. It goes from sweet to face removal in a instant and perfect for Pete.

Personally I prefer the sound from the ambient mic, it's how I hear stuff at home so sounds familiar. Also really liked the buxom Betty. Great video and stellar playing from Pete as always.

The Vemuram is totally outstanding! This is what „amplike“ sounds like.

It took me a while to figure out the rationale/difference between using boost pedals vs. overdrive/dirt pedals. Then it occurred to me when I was looking at a preamp circuit - the first gain stage can not clip, it simply amplifies the signal to the point where clipping may happen by the second gain stage or maybe by the 3rd gain stage - but from the get go, a guitar can't overload the first gain stage on it's own - so boost pedals are tapping un-mined territory by driving the very first stage into clipping and of course by default the following stages as well {or not if the gain knob is kept down, and simply only the first stage clips}. So it opened a lot more tonal diversity you can get from an amp. Dirt pedals of course introduce their own clipped waveform that can get amplified in a pristine fashion {faithfully reproducing that clipped waveform all the way to the power stage} or it can mingle with some of the amp's own clipping for a combination of the two. Dirt pedals depending on the manufacturer can also just boost the signal as well along with introducing a clipped signal. I guess the question is, should we be comparing how well many of the dirt pedals out there perform as just a boost with the drive knobs turned down all the way - certainly lots of tubescreamers out there being used in this fashion.

The Boost channel of the Prince/King of Tone run at 18v has been my go to boost for more than a year now. Great EQ and just a hint of grind with the gain cranked.

Finally a real way to see what pedals sound like against the lot. Like the format!

The Supro was by far my favourite one, might get this.
The Vemuram and Walrus were good, too. But the Supro was outstanding for me. The others don't compete against the Z.Vex Super Duper 2in1 I had. (again my personal taste)
Oh and the gospel bomb sounded great, I never heard about this.

19:37 and 26:03 are definite Pete X moments! :D
And yes, blindfold for all of these would be great!
Also, the Box of Rock's boost side is like magic sauce!

2B sounds great! Spark Mini is pretty nice too but the full size version is better IMO

I'll just say whatever you did this time with the mic work on the amps... keep on going like that! these do actually sound like "The sound in the room", really nice..

The blindfold thing with Rob would've been good for this as well

Thank you for the video. There are a lot of boost pedals and I started with really no idea if I would interested or which one to get. This helped a little bit :-) I did learn that having a bass control of some sort is useful as clean boosts can add a bit to much bass.

I really enjoyed this, I'm a boost man and think most overdrive pedals sound awful. Xotic Boosts for me, EP and RC V2.
Pete was the perfect man for this job.
