How to change water heater elements

You don't have to drain the tank to replace elements. Disconnect power. remove wires. Put down towel (will be very little water). I use impact wrench. Have new element open, ready to grab. One bump pops element right out. Quickly put new one in. The pressure only allows very little water out.

Hey question man, I have an electric 40gal it’s getting power to both elements they both ohm out out 12 but I also get ~220 across the top element and not the bottom, I heard that also tells you the element is bad even if it ohms properly?

My biggest question is on a domestic hot water heater why are you Using steel pipe for the use of brass because you’re gonna have water contamination

use a big Cresent where it just fits the nut piece, then use another Cresent to spin the big Cresent and worked for me

I just changed that exact one like 2months ago. Had an issue with the warranty. Called and they gave me the wrong part numbers for the elements but they ended up working then they told me the wrong thermostate. I called them and explained and they said ohhhh you have the digital version and I was like yes... fun times. I didn't drain the water tho I just did it quick with no pressure in the system. Fun thing I found out tho, the system trips with the protective covers off or that foam out, ig it needs it to get a good reading or it'll exceed max temp

I just changed out my water heater elements, and after draining water for 3 minutes I realized I forgot to cut the water off at the top.

I don't have time to drain it. Yank the old elements out and throw the new ones in while full. Be quick and only a small amount of water comes out.

Why are you calling it "how to" when you're not actually showing us how to do anything? You don't explain what you did or how you did it at all.

Why is it so fkn impossible to get a 1 1/2 socket? You have to special order that s.o.b.. Ridiculous, you can't just have every other socket and what you need. You gotta fk around and hunt down a stupid huge azz socket..
