I like the idea of using a screw needle that you can get for turkey injectors and such for cooking as a way of having replaceable and removable break out point.

Very useful especially on a pancake design as you can make more compact for transport or storage

The arcs are curved because of the shape of the magnetic field around the coil, not because of the “high frequency”.

How would two or three of these work would placing three of these, operating at the same frequency and in a triangular placement, increase the covered area?

That might be the perfect coil for an idea I have. Get a Pikachu doll that at least says, Pikachu!! Stick the Tesla coil in it with an electrode on each paw, and figure out how to trigger it by sound so that when it says Pikachu!, it will actually shoot electricity.
I just think having a Pikachu doll that has an actual lightning attack would be super cool! Lol

In my opinion if you attach a toroid to the top of the needle you will get longer discharges. Also try making a screw-in telescopic needle or vertical conductor with a toroid to 'tune' this tesla coil.

Very interesting little coil. I thought that I should clear up a misconception about the skin effect. The skin effect is only significant for excellent conductors such as copper or aluminum. The skin effect for a poor conductor such as the human body is almost negligible. It extends basically the entire thickness of your body. In other words the current is indeed passing through your body.

There are two reasons that you can't feel very much. The first reason is that the current is very low. The second reason is that nerve cells hardly respond to such high frequencies. I actually advise people not to touch Tesla coil streamers.
