Thank you for the weekly hour which I look forward to and try to catch live or a little later in the day - it's daytime here in India. A tiny thing to point out: as I recall the word is saponification, the first vowel being a not o. I checked again now and it does seem to be so. I also vaguely remember a group of substances called saponins found in some foods like some millets perhaps the reason these foods should be washed and rinsed well before cooking. Anyhow thanks a lot for all that you all do. Regards and good wishes.

Mary's dying inside every time John misspells saponification 😆

These live vids are great. But I wonder if people are missing them because they are in the live section, but not in the videos section.

My 13 year old nephew has type one diabetes. Stumbled upon your page last week and have been following. Is this way of eating something i can recommend to him to bring up to his doctor? He moved in with our family within the year and it hurts to see him taking insulin and always not being able to go on our weekend getaways with my kids due to worrying about him and his condition. Thanks in advance

11:10 white rice promotes beriberi due to lack of Vitamin B1: so why do you sometimes promote the Kempner white rice and fruit diet? Why does that diet use white rice and not brown rice?

Hello Dr. McDougall. Would it ok to supplement things like potassium, magnesium (lotion), zinc, selenium and molybdenum just as a way to cover bases? Thanks 🙏🏻

Dr M, I am on very strict plant based whole food diet with zero processed food in my diet. My platelets have gone high and are 650, what do you suggest?

I meant to say that it is bile that does the job (not dietary fat) and that the often stated role of dietary fat to absorb fat soluble vitamins is incorrect

8:05 scary excuse, as I've been vegan for many years and had a diagnosed Zinc deficiency.
As I also mentioned on another video, Dr Fuhrman suggests adding a Zinc supplement to a vegan diet. Would his reasoning for doing so be to get people to eat meat?

I have read that absorption of fat soluble vitamins is one of the functions of bile; i.e. the constant message from the vast majority of health authority's that you must eat dietary fat to ensure absorption of fat soluble vitamins. I would be interested in any comments from viewers and also
Dr McDougall's comments on this key point
