Hey Youtubians!! Today we are going to talk about the things that have gone wrong with our 2014 Kia Rio Ecodynamics 3 5dr car.

To give you a little bit of background we have owned this car since December 2019 when we bought it from Stoneacre Volvo in Harrogate and while we absolutely love the way the Kia Rio looks, feels and drives it has come with a host of problems that luckily between Stoneacre Harrogate and Kia's amazing 7 year warranty has sorted out with no cost to us.

We talk about the following things going on the car:

Clutch - it needed a new one as the pedal was close to the ground
Front Radiator - as it was leaking which we weren't aware of
Driver side folding mirror
Radio Antennae - needed a new one as Kia Rios tend to rust under the antennae on top of the car's roof
EGR Valve - needed a brand new one
Oil level sensor - needed replacing

So as you can see quite a few things needed doing on the Kia Rio and the only thing I didn't highlight in the video was the potential cost if we weren't covered would have been in the range of up to £2,000!

Prima greseala de achizitie este ca are motor diesel. Nu se cumpara masini cu moatoare diesel Dieselul este pt. masini mari, utilaje enorme, vapoare, camioane care functioneaza nonstop. Motorul este complicat la masinile mici si f. defectuos. Intretinerea este scumpa si in final zicala cu mere si pere.

You trying to do magic with your hand there buddy? problems I've had with mine are calipers sticking, low clutch biting points, and usually previous owner neglect (worn pads, miss-aligned wheels, old glow plugs etc). my first Kia and maybe not the last, they are decent cheap motors.

I have same problem with engine start in the winter, also passenger airbag light which problem seems is connected with cables in the steering wheel. Stll not fixed, warranty - none.

Hows the Air conditioning on it? is it still working well, nice cold air? and the heating. So all those repairs you had done were all covered for you on the warranty You even got the clutch fixed on warranty even though thats normally a wear and tear?

2.5 YEAR LATER UPDATE BELOW

Pretty common problems when I bought it the struts were already knackered in first 2 weeks the left wing mirror stopped working took it apart and the whole connector was corroded easy fix now since it’s getting hotter and hotter my pressure plates started sticking and couldn’t shift into any gear when the car was running so now it’s in the garage for a new clutch picking it up on Wednesday can’t wait to get it back

Update after having the car for 2.5 years
Check the fuel tank as they like to go rusty leading to a leak
Check the radiator as they are poor quality and develop a leak
Condensation in the front fog lights
Check for driver creaking seat when wobling side to side
If your airbag light shows up randomly check the the clock spring first

Otherwise a very good motor 1.4 crdi is going strong now at 103000miles

When you got clutch replaced did they replace master and slave ? Thanks

Hi, the clutch on our kia is exactly the same, soon as you lift your foot the car is off. It is also becoming harder to engage the gears and when in reverse it sometimes get stuck and hard to get out. Just wondering if it the clutch that needs replacing? Thanks

Hi what codes came on your car with needing the egr replacing? I'm getting p0101 on my kia rio 1.4crdi I've replaced the maf air flow senser with no.luck. cheers
