In all honestly this was kind a lazy death considering what forces characters of his caliber typically survive. Also the explosions characters in one piece have survived in the past didnt really make this believable at first.

In manga, his death is more suprisingly since we dont clearly see his corpses, and people in OP rarely dies from explosion enspecially with big bodies such ashura

And in anime, even if you dont read the manga, you already know he is dead enspecially when they show his corpses more clearly
