I'm sensing a connection between these three songs...

Interesting fact: The Gloria Jones song, tainted love, was a massive hit on the Northern Soul scene in England where the members of Soft Cell first heard it. The original is amazing.

I loved those originals. I had actually forgotten all about the Paragons. They take me back to my Amsterdam days, and going back through all the roots Reggae ❤❤

I always think of “All Along the Watchtower”. The Hendrix version is easily the definitive one despite being a cover

Gotta give credit to black folks from the 50/60/70s they were absolutely KILLING it. So many of our beloved artists grew up listening to all these black artists and inspired by them. So many covers and samples.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who instantly spotted the pattern with these songs.

Being 8 years old in 1981, it's unfathomable that 1965 was only 16 years prior.

I never knew Got My Mind Set on You was a cover!! I was OBSESSED with that song - especially the video!! - when it came out when I was a kid!!

So as always thank you Black people ♥️

You could add Red Red Wine by UB40 to that list.

God bless African Americans and all their contributions to music. Too many went without the credit they deserved.

Jazz, Funk, Rap, Hip-hop, Rock, Gospel and R&B. Just some of my favorite genres that all can trace their origins to Black Americans.

How such a small percentage of Americans can be responsible for so much beauty, poetry, and straight bangers is beyond me.

Gloria Jones and Soft Cell both make iconic versions of the same song in completely different ways. Thats the sign of a great song

Very nice I always knew you could do more than just a blind guy stuff. It's really good to see you trying out new forms of content. Keep it up

“The tide is high but I’m holding on” makes way more sense

Like all versions, but some musicians find the right mood and right time to sell
