Forced fun is the cringiest. One year, in HR, I was 'asked' to buy a crazy Christmas sweater and walk around the office engaging with staff. I was gone by February.

I'm quite an old fart and I remember when in the past at work there were office rooms of the size of a medium bedroom and they would place max 2 desks in the room. I was lucky and I didn't have a "room mate" in my office room. It was fantastic to do my job alone, play some music in the background and focus.
Nowadays there are only these ridiculous crowded noisy open spaces or some stupid boxes called cubicles. I wouldn't be able to stay there for 5 minutes without getting a migraine. Luckily now I work from home in my own room.

Treating employees like children is a psychological tactic, it's designed to make employees feel small and dependent. An abuser doesn't start in on the physical abuse immediately first they need to wear down your ego.

I've been remote since 2020 but other parts of the company are hybrid. I still voluntarily go into the office each Wednesday under the guise of "collaboration, " but it is the least productive day of the week.

Big tech - they mandated us 5 days into the office. Only problem is - we dont have an office in our region, only a wework. I commute into the "office" to sit and do that same thing I do at home, except how I have to wear noise cancelling headphones because it's open floor and other people are also on the phone. Oh, and my expenses for the month went up by $300 because of the commute. At home I have no problem working 12 hours a day, I get up at 6, workout downstairs, and code from 7-7. I like it because I have everything at home. Now because of commute, I work strictly from 8-4. Escalation at 3:59? sorry mate, buses dont run late, gotta get home. They ask, why you not working as much as you used to at home? I tell them, the spare hours are now used for commuting instead. But, at least we have a Keurig in the office and corporate booty's I can stare at all day.
