That scared the bejessus out of me,
I don't ever want to see a chuck coming at my face.
Sorta reminds me of the trade school.
Things would fly there!
You are a funny fella.

Good to see some of the new generation of diy enthusiasts have taken a love to old machinery.
Attention to detail with your machining is outstanding. Very nice job on the lathe makeover by the way.
I was always told (by a machinest) never to run your lathe with an empty chuck. The centrifugal force can damage the scroll inside the chuck. Of course, spinning by hand or running at a very low rpm would be insignificant. Anyone else heard this before ???

You have an amazing skill, I grew up in machine shops watching guys that have been doing this for 30 years or more, and you are just as good as them. <3

I love that shroud around the cutter! Going to try that next time I'm turning cast iron.

Anyone can assemble stuff...even I can assemble lots of stuff. It takes vision to be able to 'see' the finished product before you even start. Great work Ca...

That piece over the cutting is ingenious!

A great idea to put the blanket over the ways to collect cast iron chips. A old machine tool dealer once told me "cast iron dust mixed with way lube is worse than lapping compound". And when the lathe chuck flew off I tried to dodge it LOL!
