Marauders just released into early access and it’s another extraction shooter. It’s a fun time but there are some (not so serious) questions that need answered

There is air in the space station or atmosphere of each place so sound would travel because there is a median to travel through but in the space fights you shouldn’t hear anything but the firing from your ship as sound Travels through solid objects as well. But you wouldn’t hear incoming fire from ships

First off, the game is HEAVILY based off a fictional, alternate reality world war, and the weapons choices are just based off of the timeline. Not even to mention that if they have these kind of ships only 70 years after The Great War, that would have to mean the entire researching industry would’ve been focused on space research, and not weapons. And as for sound traveling “in space” you as a character are never actually in a vacuum environment, all environments your character is in are pressurized, so sound is possible. The main point though is to just appreciate the game, not criticize it

Great video Tacti! (As usual)

Some things you touched on that I want to address that curbed a couple of my own initial criticisms of the game and/or clarified some things I didn't understand when picking up the game:

1) The game only just left alpha, hence why it's as barebones as it is. For me personally, the gameplay serviceable enough for me to overlook the lack of customization for the moment especially with the promise of tweaks to things that need a rework (i.e. the volume of directional audio) and new content on the horizon. It's been a lot of fun so far, especially since there's no grinding Jaeger quests or getting calmly one tapped after magdumping into a beefboi's altyn. It's instead an experience closer to Hunt: Showdown, just without the goth cowboys.

2) The Rustbucket starting ship is a clunky pos, but you can immediately make space combat much more viable with it by utilizing the escape pod/breaching mechanic on other ships. Otherwise, you can craft or steal (yes, steal) other ships that perform way better, do way more damage and are considerably more maneauverable. You can also repair your ship using fire extinguishers placed around the engine bay and using them on your ship's engine. It takes up a weapon slot to use though, so make sure you've got a free slot ready!

3) It's set in a diselpunk universe, so old retro tech is the name of the game. There's numerous proposed lore reasons as to why they'd still be dunking on eachother with grandpappy's M1A1 while flying SPACESHIPS, but a commonly accepted reason (and probably the most likely) is that humanity rapidly consumed Earth's resources and focused on space travel and survivability so more resources could be found and poured into the war effort -- a vicious cycle.

4) It's impossible to get tired of double tapping F1 and yelling expletives at space dorks

The reason you hear sounds in space is because it could make you feel uncomfortable, because your brains want sound.

the sound and explosions in ship combat is there for the same reason that ships in star wars explode or why the silent man game was terrible. being accurate does not always make for a fun experience

what I love about marauders is even at this early stage it is more consistent and solid than tarkov and it is devoid of ridiculous movement tech and the bullet spongy pve that the cycle has

My game runs stupid smoothly so im not sure if yours or mine is the odd one.

the audio honestly is exactly how tarkov was for ages they couldn't give proper directional audio so im glad to have proper directional audio even if it ignores walls personally

I kinda like how it looks like old school tech, yet is in space. Seems much simpler than Tarkov, which is almost overwhelming with how much you can do and customize.
Haven’t played this, just looking at your video.

In space combat the getting below your opponent and under them is the key to keep damage on them as a solo you have to face them and dodge left and right constantly but I wouldn’t take on to many space fights as a solo because any group will out heal you

your description of space works perfectly for my rectal cavity as well my good man.

I think this is more set in the rimworld type universe this might be set in the outer reaches of the universe where old outdated weapons might be the only thing they have they might not have access to schematics or resources for advanced weapons. Plus realistically we'd probably still use kinetic weaponry in space.
Also this game does seem inspired by old space movies and shows where they only really had access to ww2 prop weapons like star wars.
I think the lack of sights really adds to this game this isn't a space military it's rimworld edge of the galaxy pirate's and raiders.

definitely think the footsteps and gunfire audio could use some work, but i love this game so far. excited to see where it goes. i also agree about the opinions you had on the space combat. i enjoy the fact that you can breach other ships though

0:50 about the weapons. It can make lore more deep. Like there is was restrictions of producing weapons so they have only old one, or only old designs

Why i have the feeling that the devs intention for this game was it to be in the sea! With submarines instead of spaceships but its way cooler in space especially with those weapons

The weapon choices and lack of scopes etc I find to be perfect.
I love raw guns and how they feel. Admittedly the choices of weapons giving the tech around you seems off.
But I imagine a Nazi/Alien technology taking place 😂🤣 the ww2 genre and space is cool af imo

Space cookies let's go. They should add optics like you said. Game looks cool but if you're having performance issues I can only imagine how bad it's going to run on my rig. I got a rtx 2070 but the rest of my parts are much lower.

But um, I do have some questions. Questions I that need answered. Questions so irrelevant to gameplay but so relevant to my mind. Questions like; "WhAt ArE tHoSe!?"

I can't wait for 5 or 6 years down the line when one of these extraction shooter type games just blows everyone out of the water. Hopefully sooner than that but, but with how common it is to just release in Early Access, it seems doubtful
