Tractor Companies That Take Care of Their Dealers and Their DEALER RELATIONSHIPS!
Показать описание
You'd think that your local tractor dealer gets along great with the company whose equipment they sell, right? Well, that's not always the case. I've been in the middle of friction between a tractor supplier and their dealer network and it can get UGLY!
We're not going to talk about the bad dealer-manufacturer relations today, but rather we're going to highlight the companies that take care of their dealers and get high marks for their relationships. Today's information comes for the North American Equipment Dealer's Association (NAEDA) who does an annual Dealer-Manufacturer Relationship Study. It's an anonymous poll of 2500 dealerships asking them to rate their suppliers. They're asked to comment about the products they produce, and how they take care of their dealer network. NAEDa won't release who finished at the bottom of the four categories that over 60 companies are rated on, but they're glad to highlight the winners. The results might surprise you, they did me!
There are four categories...Full line companies that handle farm tractors and implements, tractor companies, which include those just in the compact business, short line companies, which mostly make implements, and outdoor power equipment companies who make lawn mowers and hand-held equipment. Each category had a "Dealer's Choice" winner, the top award, and several had "Gold" level winners who got close.
In the Full Line category, the winner was Kubota of Canada. There were no Gold winners. Note the absence of Deere, Kubota USA, Case IH, New Holland, and AGCO. They must all have work to do to improve their dealer relations.
In the tractor category, Branson Tractor won the Full Line award, which is bad because they no longer exist. They were purchased by another Korean company, TYM, who didn't make the list. In the Gold category the winners were Yanmar, LS and Kioti. Again, note that the companies with the most market share didn't make the cut.
In the Short Line area there are some companies that cater to large livestock and row crop farmers who won, many you may never have heard of. Included is Meyer Manufacturing who won the Dealers Choice award. Winning the Gold award were Vermeer, Bougault, Elmer's Manufacturing, Great Plains Manufacturing, Unverferth Manufacturing and Dengelman.
Finally, in the Outdoor Power Equipment category, the Dealers Choice award went to Scag, who make zero turns. Gold awards went to Grasshopper, and Exmark who make mowers, Shindaiwa who makes hand held equipment, and Wright Manufacturing who primarily makes stand-on mowers for commercial cutters.
I was a bit surprised by the major manufacturers who didn't win at all, but that's not all that uncommon. You don't have to have good relationships with your dealers to sell a lot of product, but, at least in my mind, it helps. We'll check again next year to see if any of the majors can break into the survey.
