I had the same experience with my 1960 Unimog at the MB dealer they had to pull the old microfiche data to service it but were very happy to do so (circa 2000 in France)

What an absolutely brilliant advert.
I love it.
I used to get similar response when I drove a Ford Corsair 2000E as my daily driver right up to the mid 90's.
Phoning spares shops to try and get simple service parts only to be met with "a Ford what?" Sorry - I've never heard of

German companies are very good at standing by their product. I own a 2001 BMW 3 series, and a couple of months ago I was told that BMW had had to recall them for an airbag fault. A recall on an almost 17 year old car, you wouldn't catch Ford doing that.
The staff at the dealer were brilliant, gave the car a 100 point inspection, and full valet for free.
For true after sales service, buy German.
