To this day the ending still gives me chills and goosebumps 😰😱 as it makes you feel empty, worthless, and hollow inside as it gives a insightful and articulate representation of how true evil wins.😭🥺😞

I prefer the US ending as it is darker in a sense. Director Neil Marshall said on the American version ending, "Just because [someone] gets away, does that make it a happy ending?"
The man had SEVERAL ideas on how it would end in mind, these two being just, well, two of them. He even compared the ending of the American cut to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the very reasons you described, and being a fan of that film, it is more suiting to me as well. She escaped, but now will be fucked up for life.

Not the original ending. This is american theatrical release ending. Original UK release is different.

I feel like the original ending is better, as it's more emotional, less abrupt, and it actually makes sense as opposed to Juno's random ghost. However, in the American ending, her escape is at least confirmed as opposed to the original one where she's still trapped in the cave, so I guess there's that.
