The stations visited on this video are the older ones from the original 70s design. They have been somewhat renovated but the most recent renovation work is still ongoing. The long corridor between the metro and the trainstation was for a long time nomans land, not maintained by the metro or the railway. The place was dirty, unsafe, and luckily a solution was found a few years ago, but it still isn’t pleasant.

Good morning Johnny, how are you, mate? I've been waiting for this Brussels Transit video here & and I hope it runs as good, just like the Underground 🚇 Tube Transit system here in London!

I’m normally a Doubletree/Hampton by Hilton stayer, but I like Ibis’. Did your one have the pod-like bathroom?

The Brussels metro seems a bit like the Underground in London where you can get two or even three lines on the same track, like the line between Liverpool Street and Baker Street (the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines share the same tracks)

Im belgian, metros can be incredibly sketchy and unsafe (like any country) but I personally like the transportation in Brussels 🙂

You commented on the trains speed. The trains around Brussels can be the regional ‘S’ trains, but trains to Gent and further to the coast take a dedicated ‘longer distance’ line to Gent, going 140 to 160 km per hour. Beyond Gent building works are ongoing, that will provide from 2028-2029 or so all the way to Bruges 2 inner tracks at 160 km/h and the slower trains will be on the outer tracks. So for trips between Brussels and Liege or Brussels and Bruges, the train will be faster then the car, but it offourse depends a lot on the final destination. 34:56

The metro trip is perfect to show your audience, but the 2 stations you travelled between would have been a pleasant outside walk, crossing the famous ‘grande place’.
The slightly confusing situations of a metro mixed with a premetro will end when this major north-south axis gets turned into a full metro. For this major extension works beyond the North station (and others) are planned, but the project is in reality way too expensive for Brussels and while work is still ongoing, it is expected that once the new governments get formed in Belgium, some scaling down will happen.

The situation in and around the Brussels public transport infrastructure is not catastrophic from a safety point of view, but some of the metro station to the west of downtown, and the Brussels midi station require extra care at night (pickpockets, drugusers, …).

Please stop showing your phone’s screen on stream!! It is ALWAYS blurry and just wrecks the experience. Thx.

The difference between first class and second class on Belgian railways is fairly limited. The seats tissues are a bit different and the first class is a bit calmer. I only advize first class on busier moments.

Isn't Brussels in Belgium Europe? How come there are so many middle eastern and african people? No offense I'm just curious! It really surprised me as it's the capital of the EU.
