The best interaction I've had with my villagers was when Apple asked me to do a treasure hunt with her, and that was super fun and unexpected

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually miss when a villager would ask me for a piece of fruit while standing right next to a fruit tree in new leaf

Not a mechanic I miss, but a related thing that makes me insane:
I cannot stand it when I forget that I talked to a villager earlier (sometimes many many hours earlier) and I make the mistake of talking to them again and they give me that snarky, passive aggressive "Wow nothing better to do today huh?" or "Seeing you a lot today.." type of response. Oh, sorry your highness, sorry I forgot I can't talk to my animal friends in the animal friend game more than twice a day without the 'tude. I'll give you your gift tomorrow, then.

edit: "This was in every game" I dont care. Also maybe I'm misremembering but I don't remember getting the passive aggressive remarks after merely talking twice. Ive long since given up trying to see fun new dialogue lol

I think the villagers feel kind of.... bland.

I've got 3 peppys. Hearing about Maglev Mike taking the relationship off the rails is driving me *insane*.

Most of my villagers ask if I want to take a hike around the island with them, and I really wish I could actually do that. Just have a villager follow behind you for a while until they were tired or you told them to stop.

Another thing that bothers me is when you find a lost item in NH, they just straight up tell you who it belongs to. In New Leaf, you’d go on a wild goose chase trying to find who the item belongs to.

They’re basically there for aesthetic and for what we USED to like them for in previous ac games.

Lately I actually have noticed there’s a lot more dialogue in the game and I appreciate it so much. But I do also wish there would be more interactive things like treasure hunts, tasks, or adding back the hide and seek mechanic. I wanna have closer interactions with my villagers.
But Im still so thankful Nintendo gave us more dialogue, I’m tired of hearing about Goldie’s book club and Cookie telling me three things. One, I’m fab. two, she means it. and three, there is no three.

the cutest villager interaction I've seen was Zucker asking if he turned into a butterfly would Margie let him stay inside with her during the winter, it was so adorable

I need the megaphone back so I can actually find villagers instead of wandering around for 30 minutes only for them to be in the museum

I reall miss our villagers having emotions after talking to another neighbour. I loathe the fact, that every conversation ends in a neutral or happy sentiment. In earlier games they wouls get angry, or sing, or sad and the funniest thing was when one got sad and the other happy. Where are our fights? Why do they even have different levels of 'getting along' if it doesn't do anything?

Also grumpy villagers aren't grumpy anymore, they're just "old"

I miss when Resetti would steal your entire face for not saving.

Even though I haven’t played any of the other games, it still feels wrong on how little interaction they have

In Wild World, we were able to give responses to some of the dialogue, and their mood changed depending on our response (some even gifted furniture/clothing as rewards!)…it spiced things up, you know?

I wish that they could atleast add dialogue that is affected by personality and species for example a peppy cat may say something different than a peppy penguin and etc

And I really want my villagers to visit my house again like they did in new leaf

It would be cool if they had personalities more like the stardew valley townsfolk, as you have to talk to them and give them gifts to get more interesting interactions from them in that game.

I think everything about new horizons is well… just so painfully passive? I miss when my villagers would brutally insult me and rudely gossip about my neighboring villagers, which is incredibly lacking in this new addition. Of course it might not appeal to younger audiences AS much, but it would add so much more depth to the game and I think young me would have enjoyed the snarky quirks about the characters a little more than what we have now :)

I actually miss going round asking people if they need help in the older games

For my villagers.. I had to kinda "force" a personality onto them.. I have a total of 3 lazy villagers (my favorite type) where they're just the exact same character but with a different model on them.. It's Weber, Alfonso & Bob..

Weber i've made into a bug lover. His house is very "Earth" coloured and he has a dirt floor so i thought "Hey why not?" So he has a buch of bug & Nature stuff.
Alfonso has a very colourful house inside and outside, so i made him the toy kid. He has a buch of toys everywhere.
Bob i haven't really come up with anything as he doesn't really fit anything i can come up with..

But stuff like that i would have love to see in the game. The villagers actually have an interest. Let's say like 15-20 different hobbies within every personality type.. Then every villager get's one interest/hobby instead of EVERY lazy villager liking snacks and bugs.

Considering we get a massive list of play testers every time we have a song from K.K. - it blows my mind that they signed off the “you would like a new villager” mechanic that goes with the campsite, it’s so repetitive, random, time consuming and utterly boring that I skip campsites entirely. Especially as you lose a random villager that you might like unless you go through it all again and again and again.
