Absolutely one of my very favorite movies! Watch along with "The Help" for a real taste of what it was like to live back then.
I did... but from the POV of a toe-headed little white boy. I learned more about the good stuff from Inez and Thelma than I ever could from either/both of my parents.
I was blessed. And I remember.
I remember the love, the warmth, the acceptance, the stories, the considered answers to my questions.
I remember them because they are part of my core being, my formative life experiences that are the foundation of who I am. They're part of me.

Love this film! All the actors were perfect and the story is so uplifting, inspirational; celebrating intelligence, inspired work, dedication, excellence. NO unimaginative gratuitous swearing, name-calling, but showing the racial challenges of the time…which we STILL haven’t learned enough from. A fine movie for all ages.

I remember those trying turbulent times, I wish they never existed because we are all immigrants no matter where we come from, but one thing is for sure we are one country and we can’t allow petty things like color, race, religion or whatever come between us getting things done, doing a great job or making sure we accomplish what needs to be done to complete the task at hand. We have won wars, build up nations, helped to educate and provide medical assistance for many throughout the 19th and 20th century. Regardless of where we come from we are ONE PEOPLE and must continue that and not allow racism, greed and power-mongers to change that, we must keep it together or we’ll not accomplish much. A good movie to show those days and the struggles to change for the better.
