Pattern Review :: McCalls 7971 :: A Tropical 'Backless' Delight

Hey Peeps! I love this dress. It's lovely to wear I like the little hints of skin you get at the lower back and with the leg split. The fabric is lovely to wear. All in all very happy. As I mention in the review I do want to tweak the finish on the inside waistline a little but that is me being very nit picky indeed. Love this on you-- fabric and pattern. Do not care for exposed zips ( my opinoon) but love the back and see no evident bra strap. Lovely job!

Ps. There are are so many bra options available now. Even the bras with a clear "invisible" back band and shoulder straps. But when it's hot and humid who wants to wear a bra anyway! Every one will notice that beautiful dress not whether you have the "girls" confined ! 🙂

Love this dress. I think to eliminate the slight gape you mentioned at back maybe you didn’t need to add the full inch to lengthen bodice.

If you used a zipper but don’t like the concept of a hanging zipper pull, try taking off the zipper pull and changing it to something more decorative, like a fancy flat bead or crystal.

I don't have an issue with bras being seen. It depends on the garment and the bra but if you make it look like a deliberate effect and the colour/design of the bra suits the garment, I think it's absolutely fine.

Pretty dress - it looks great on you and will be lovely and cool on really hot days. I think the back details look fine with the bra showing slightly, though probably best as you say with a black one so it matches.

It's beautiful! I am always nervous to make anything with openings in the back because I cannot go with a bra but I may just try it!
