I had separation anxiety from my mother on the first day of school. I stood by the door and cried. A teacher introduced me to a play activity and I felt much better. I had fun and the rest of the day went well.

Hi all! I’m Caleb. I am 17 this year. I really feel bad for this girl. She must be in so much distress right now. This was me as well when I was about 3 or 4. I cried every time I went to school. At that age, I wasn’t very used to being away from my parents and being with people

Parents should make home as boring as possible and feed kids food they hate in the leading weeks to starting school so they want to get away! I remember being so excited my first day of school and not understanding why some kids were crying. My niece cried every single day for 4 months. my sister in law was extremely embarrassed and frustrated because no amount of talks and reassurance worked. My niece would say “I just want to be with my family with my toys and play with my dog” so that’s how I know kids who cry have it too good at home

Preparation is key. Go to the meet the teacher day. Let your kid see you speak to the teacher. She or he will introduce themselves to them. And for heaven's sake, don't cry infront of your kid that first day! You are the grown-up. Be cheerful, leave it for graduation.

Reminds me of when it was my first day of preschool. I didn't want my mom and dad to leave me. I remember I cried like crazy.
To calm me down, I remember they offered that I do some sort of sea creature art.
