Fourth gen Apple vs first gen Qualcomm. I just see this as a win for consumers and portable devices. Hopefully they stay power conscious.

If you are a Windows user, these processors appear to be quite promising for the majority of us. I sincerely hope that these new notebooks will have quick boot-up and boot-down times, as well as a reliable battery life. I have grown weary of the x64/86 architecture.

i think its important to consider the price point of each chip.

None of this really matters, what matters is that we finally have Windows on ARM for real.
The numbers were very close, given that it is the first year for the X Elite, and the X Elite 2 is already in the final stages of development.
Qualcomm has not launched a chipset to compete with the M3 Max and M4 Max, perhaps in the future, but it is not the company's focus now, given the low demand for this type of chipset.
Best of all, the X Elite is equivalent to Apple's chips, but running Windows, which is much better than Mac OS, so I'm very happy with these results from the X Elite.
Within 2 years, Qualcomm chips will be unbeatable.

A few thoughts. The Snapdragon X Elite and Plus are both geared to go after the M3 series. Most people won't be upgrading to the M4 anytime soon considering the back to school season will have passed prior to Apple even releasing updated versions unless they announce at WWDC. The MacBook Pro (Air doesn't have M3 Pro) is much more expensive than the announced Snapdragon X Elite computers when similarly spec'd. For example, The 13.8" Surface Laptop w X Elite with 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD is ~$1600 USD. A 14" MacBook Pro with M3 Pro 12-core CPU, 18GB RAM, 1TB SSD is ~$2400 USD. A whopping $800 difference. In real life work loads the Surface Laptop provides a much better value proposition in casual situations. Fun times for consumers as the competition will continue to push benefits to us.

For me the proper comparison is the iPad Pro M4 with the Surface Pro 11. The Snapdragon X Elite with OLED in the Surface Pro looks to me to be overall ahead simply because the Surface Pro has a proper full desktop operating system that can also do what a tablet can do (i.e. what the iPad Pro M4 would be with an iPadOS/MacOS hybrid operating system). The iPad Pro M4 is a very nice tablet but for those of us that really can't justify spending for an iPad Pro and a Macbook then the Surface Pro 11 is the way to go. I will be waiting till fall to finally decide but it looks like we won't be seeing any iPadOS/MacOS hybrid OS this year.

This video has been the most informative about the performance of the new Qualcomm chips out of the others I have seen. Happily subscribed.
I only recently got into the Mac space but I am not looking back, I've been recently looking to get a mechanical keyboard that supports the full MacOS layout, can't seem to find one though.

I'm planning on replacing my Ipad's keyboard/case. Apple's version of this has served me pretty well so I'll buy it again. It does take a beating over time, it is still working flawlessly now. I figure after 4 years of use, I can treat myself to that brand new feeling again and keep the current one as a backup.

X Elite on par with the M3, but M4 beating them.
But if the new snapdragons are better while using way less power, then the Windows users will happily stick to Windows, because moving to MacOS would be a big jump in learning a new system and buying new software.
