That's a handsome trellis you built for your wife's pleasure; and I agree with you 200%: Its worth building something well the first time, rather than having to endure a painful deterioration and reconstructing the project again, and possibly again. Great video! : )

Problem with that tyoe of lattice stapled together is the staples rust and it falls to bits.Fibro cement lattice is better in that regard.

Nice video.

Another great video. Love watching, feel like I’m getting to know your garden!

I am an environmental consultant focusing on waste and contaminated soils... I can agree with everything you’ve said... treated timber can leach copper or arsenic at amounts that are a little undesirable for food gardens. Zincalume will release lots of zinc mostly when new but also during its whole life. Zinc may not build up in the soil so much because it is very mobile and will be removed during watering or heavy rain... it is very hard to find low zinc soils anywhere that humans have not built something... and at moderate levels zinc is even good for you!...

so, your metal garden beds are fine, your treated timber ones probably are too... if you don’t exclusively use it for your food gardens... which I can see you don’t!

I've heard where some people burn the outside of raw timber that is going in the ground. They say it keeps it from rotting so fast, but I have no personal experience doing this. thanks for the vid

Good thing you built it to withstand wind....how did you hold up through this weather?

Always use treated outside or you will pay twice.
